Ok, I think this forum is appropriate. Well my gst had a bad accident and I'm hoping the insurance doesn't total it, I looked up it's blue book value it's like 8000-8500
So, Basically it needs a new front bumper, new left front fender (the thing above the wheel) Two new motegi mr7s, 17", front and rear control arms, tire rod ends, left front axle (if there is just a thing), left rotors, pads, etc. Basically everything that holds the wheel except maybe the struts and springs. How much? brand new? and including normal labor?

Erm seriously, pls, any input. I don't want to lose my gst, no way in hell am I going to find a car like this.
Also one other question, after the impact, I went to go look at the car today, it was at the tow yard, the clutch was all the way down? is that good or bad? I pulled it back up and it had pressure in it, maybe it dropped during impact?

if the accident was bad and the frame was bent, its going to be VERY close. what happened? might give us a better idea of the damage... i've got my fingers crossed for ya...

just for comparison...

I had an old lady T me in the front drivers tire... I was crossing STOPPED traffic in GA and she came down the turn lane from way the hell in the back and hit dead center on the hub @ 20-30mph... enough push the wheel into the fenderwell, and CRUSH the strut in half... needless to say the whole drivers side front suspension had to be replaced including rim.... I got it all done for ~$1000-1200 fender was damaged it woulda cost an extra $2-300 or so... ohhh and this included a supposed minor frame realign on the front end... I'm doubthing that work... but then again I dont believe much of any mechanic in GA... specially not one that works for money....

hope this helps...

Ok basically this is how the accident happened. I was going down a 3 lane highway, I was in the middle lane, there was a guy in the fast lane (3rd lane) and he wanted to move into my lane, as he did I quickly swerved right and the curb was coming close so I swerved back right and as I swerved right, the rear of the car lost grip I guess or something happened, my car basically did a 180 and hit the curb sideways, front tire first and almost immediately the rear tire. The damage to front seems a lot severe because the tire is only being held to the car by the axle rod. THe rear tire seems to be bent inwards as if I had 4 wheel steering. THe right side of the car is perfectly fine. The front bumper got cracked because the tire hit it, and when the tire broke off the car it hit the fender above. And the tires aren't really bent but they are scratched really badly.

I lost my 95 gs-t, I have a talon awd now but still miss the gs-t.

A girl and her boyfriend came out of a bar in the right lane on a 2 lane road, as I was about to pass them in the left lane when she realized she wanted to do a u-turn(I thought just a lane change). I didn't see any cars coming in the oncoming lane so I tried to pass around it, the small median made me airborn when I hit her door. Her back end spun around and hit my rear and I high centered on the curb on the other side of the road. 2 rims shattered and the front wheels were back 4 inches.

Her insurance gave me 10500 but I wish it never happened.
That was 3-4 months ago...I got 600 more for my tow fee and dis-4 that was smashed and rims.

i've been there bro, it's going to be alright!

I had the same thing happen to me almost, except basically on the passenger side (plz everyone, don't try to amatuer autocross on a windy street on stok suspension...it's just no good). Anyway, what happened to me was i bent my intercooler pretty much to hell, broke my knuckle and hub, rotor, both lower control arms, my wheel, and my axle. basically, i just bought a used knuckle and hub for $70, a rotor for $50, the lower control arms for $60, a used chrome wheel for $100, and an axle for $100. The funny thing is, when i ordered my axle, the limey bastards sent me the wrong side, so they had to resend me the passenger side axle. If you need a 2nd Gen GS-T driver's side axle, i'll sell you mine for $80 + shipping. comes with both cv boots. just trying to help a fellow DSMer out--i had it pretty bad when i was scarmbling for parts too. anyway, you're going to be ok my man, ok... if you want the axle, just say so and i'll be packaging it up right away! good luck!

oh yeah, don't bother taking it a shop to switch up the parts, all you really need is a good solid day to replace everything. the only slightly hard thing to do is put the axle back into the transmission. patience and cursing may help a bit on that part, but it will save you so much $$$ it'll make your head spin. here's a link that shows an axle replacement.

So the damage can be fixed relatively cheap?
And if the insurance tries to write off the car, is it worth buying it back and fixing it, I could some of the work myself except for fixing that axle.

i don't know about the insurance...

when i had my accident, i called my friend who was holding a triple A card, so we just towed it to his house. i didn't report anything to my insurance company and just kept coming back to my friend's house to fix it up there. yeah, it can be fixed for relatively cheap, but i don't know how cool your insurance would be with that. and fixing everything yourself sounds intimidating right now, but when you start taking things off, everything will seem clearer like common sense. the axle job isn't hard at all, the link should tell you everything you need to know. like i said, if you want my axle, you can have it for cheap. i have no use for it and i can't refund it to those blokes who sold it to me, so it's just sitting here.

about buying it back if they total it out, i don't know what to tell you. that's some money--money for your vr4. but i can tell you this: after having my car dirty, dusty, and crashy-like on jack-stands for a month, it's never felt sexier when i finally drover her home, washed and waxed her, and made sweet love to her driving through the city of las vegas that same night!

I have a big ass driveway, jack stands etc, it can stand here if neccesary. But only if my mom will agree. No way in hell can I drive the VR-4 now...it's tottaly off limits, heck my mom took me off the insurance. So I have no car, so I might as well buy it back open the thing up, maybe look for a few local DSMers for some help maybe. I can pray atleast.

VR-4 is off limits because...I'm 18...this is my second major accident withing 6 months, which ofcourse i need to point out this isn't my fault entirely, but insurance hates me. OFcourse I prolly won't me able to drive for a while. I'll try to make a deal with my mom if she could just buy the car back and I'll fix it on my own.
