My girlfriend's beloved '98 RS is in need of some brake work and i've contemplated swapping out the rear drums for GS/GST rotors just for simplicity and to ruduce the brake fade shes complaining about durring hard driving (lol gotta love girls who can drive!).

Has anyone done this that could shed some light on the subject? Or is this something not as easy as im thinking. I assume for ease, i'd track down a junker GS and pull the whole rear towers ... then just swap 'em.

Thanks,
-Dana

I've never tried it, nor do I know anyone who has, but I applaud the idea. Let us know how it goes.

i am gonna do the same thing on my 95. i went down to my local mitsubishi dealer and he printed up the hole rear suspension system complete with part numbers for me, i would sugest you go down there and see what he can do for you. the hardest thing he said might be changing the e-brake cables and a friend of mine said i might have to change the brake master cylender to. (but he isnt sure so i would check) if and/or when you do it let me know how it goes cause i prolly wont do it for a couple more weeks.

sounds good, i'll go check out the suspesion setups for both the RS and GS and see whats needed. The e-brake cables and brakes might be tough if you did just part swapping. I dont think you'd have to change the master brake cylinder, however im thinking there might be an extra set of lines from the collecting block.
I think the toughest part is getting the parts i need. "mitsukr" - i'll check 'em out!

Thanks guys, i'll post with results.
