Hey guys, i've been looking for the last couple of weeks on the potential HP of an NT. I've seen some posts on crate engines with 300 and people with HP in the 2's, but i was wondering, how much hp could an NT with complete rebuild, like higher compression, ported everything, stroking, and things like that. I was thinking a non-turbo talon with 325hp would be kind of cool.

Tell me what you think.

PS. If you think i am crazy, just keep it to yourself, and i know i can get xxxhp out of a turbo, so dont say "get a turbo".

Doh, only 250?

I've seen crate engine with 300hp.

What about with like 11:1 compression, stroked, ported everything, extreme cams, better fuel delivery, big injectors, bigger valves, etc.....

I am basically asking if 300hp is possible without nos.
 
its going to be tough man. You are starting with 140hp. You get the compression up sure you`ll get high hp numbers but still no torque. I think its a really good idea and you should go through with it but I wouldnt expect anything close to 300hp. I might be wrong but I still think it going to be hard to get 300hp out of a NA 4g63 or 420a.

Well thanks for you help guys. I'm going to keep looking into this, and if i can get ~300hp i might do it. I have a local engine shop (Performance Clinic in Dayton) that says they use the NT 4g63 in the 3/4 midgets (?) and they have well into the 3's, he recommended 11:1 compression, with some cams ( i forget the specs)

If i did decide to stay NT, how many HP would i need to hit high 13's? 300-325?
 
lafemme on this board hit like 13.5 in her NT with nitrous. your going to want to get rid of that auto for a mt though. Those autos sap a ton of horsepower believe me I used to have one.

Hey blackboost.

If you had an engine with 23000 hp, you'd use 1.4 gallons a second at idle. And you'd have to change your tires daily, and have ONE STIFF FRAME!

Ouch. Some of you turbo guys are brutal. I would love to see a 400 HP all motor 420A, but I don't think it will happen either. I think 275 is reasonable, with a lot of time and money.

It;s been discussed on 2gnt.com discussion boards before. I think you can get great results with 12:1 compression, stroker kit, cams all intake and exhaust work (includes polishing, porting, etc.) and then just add some nitrous too. I'm not sure because I am not interested in that path but I know they have lots of info. Plus if you did all that, you'd be taking turbo cars out withthe same hp #'s since there wouldn't be ANY turbo lag!! Yay!! :)

OH YEAH: you can get the 2.4 L 420 block and there's some nice gains too instead of stroking.
 
my engine.

i have a 92 laser nt 2.0 first off id like to say, yes im buying a turbo dsm. but i need a daily driver. me and my laser were inseperable till my timing belt went. now six months later. i have money to spend on my baby. im thinkin hks cams if theyd work on my nt. i figure why not its a 4g63 still. i need a new head, why the hell not polish the damned thing. k&n fipk(already on), and will be getting borla header, 2.5 catback, random tech. cat, flowmaster 60 series muffler, and jet chip within the next 60 days. any idea how much power that would make. i am not too familiar with tuning dsm's. any help would be appreciated. i love my car way to much to let it die forever. and if its already apart why keep resisiting the impulse to be like everyone else and pour money into my broken dsm. haha sorry had to joke about that. my interior and half of accessories under the hood are new.
 
incase the b.s flag starts jumpin out.

two years ago i was involved in a near fatal car crash, 20 stitches in my head and internal bleeding in two spots. i am recently getting my settlement for over 120k. almost all is for my college debts. but im buying a 1gen awd. as the weekend toy. i figured id add this cuz id yell b.s. if i read just the aforementioned statement. thank you for your time.
