I have two other people helping me.. We all love to work on our cars. I would be afraid to let my wife help. I want to keep my car around for a while, she can't even drive my car. She has no desire to drive a five speed. Thank God! How long did it take you to install the CF?

That doesn't sound too bad. I can't wait to get a new clutch, I can't take the slipping for much longer. Do you know how much does bigger rims slow you down in the quarter mile? My friends and I like to race the quarter and they have maxima's. I haven't taken my car because of the clutch. Stock my car is suppose to do the quarter in 15.3, but I put a little heavier 17" rims on it. What should I expect?

ya i've been lucky w/my clutch.. i have 100K on the stock clutch.... but when i went to do a 4K launch it was HORRENDOUS.. i mean..... bang.... bang..... bang..... bang (car shaking).. does that mean i shouldnt be launching??? lol

Either you guys aren't making much power or your driving like my grandma :dunno: That's all I have to say, stock clutch sucks if you drive even remotely hard on a consistent basis. Don't believe me AWD guys?? Go out and do some 6000rpm slip launches for a few days or more and come back and tell me how great your stock clutch is.
Haa! I didn't say it was a great clutch, but it will last if your not out beating the hell out of it and drive like a normal human being. Nor is my car making like 400hp.

Driving like your grandma...don't think so. I see too many "import" racers lifting to shift. Com'on Keep it planted and wack the clutch and rip it like there's no tomorrow. :D

Do you consider a 1.78 60ft time "driving like a grandma" "Rippin" GSX? My stocker eventually went, but it did very well over the course of the first year I owned the car, launching at 6,000 rpms many times at the drag strip, and on the street.

That wasn't a personal attack so don't cop an attitude man  Your lucky at best. The stock clutch SUCKS!!! period.

I just took my car apart to replace it with another stock clutch. The stock ones hold up just fine, for me anyways. My cars probably in the 300-315hp range. As a matter of fact, mine isn't even slipping, but i have a big race coming up and i want everything to be tuned. I got the disk, pressure plate and bearing from Conicelli for $157. That's a Daikem quality clutch. An ACT 2100 is ridiculous at $335. The price just went up.

I would say that this only holds true for us Front wheel drive guys. A stock clutch will last a whole lot longer on a FWD car. Many of the guys that are rippin' on stock clutches in here have AWD cars. There's a debate within a debate here.

An ACT 2100 of course is 2100lbs and i believe the stocker is rated at 1800lbs.

Conicelli seems to have the best deals on them. I have a '97 GST too and it has 16g and i don't experience slippage. I've this clutch in for just over a year, i'm only changing it because i'm doing tranny work and then i'm racing it next month.
