The K03/K04 hybrid turbo (Borg Wagner K03 sport) in the current GTI/Jetta/Beetles is about the same size as a T25 and the current fastest time (off the juice) on the stock Turbo for a GTI is 13.54. Timeslips are available at www.18turbo.com

Cheers.

P.S. The K03 sport turbo maxes out at about ~245hp/285lb-ft

Interesting that someone claims a 1.8T can keep up with C5's with a filter chip and exhaust. What are his 1/4 mile times and traps? I was at bandemere and talked to several guys about that engine. 30-40 HP with exhaust(which sounds high concidering the setup) 30-40 hp with chip(on 91 ? doubt it) 10 filter(reasonable). I have a couple friend with these engines and I highly doubt those are close to c5's.

As far as a guy beating a turbo beatle with a truck it makes sense. My yuppie friend cant launch for crap in his S4 and when the A/C is on those cars seem to get bogged big time. Also they get heat soaked bad. I watched my buddy s4 clearly lose to a ford SUV. The kid said he couldnt believe he won.

Come out to Bandimere on Sept. 6th at the next club clash and you'll see the guy with the 1.8T Jetta and you can see it run 14.4s-14.7s (a properly launched stock C5 runs 14s-14.6s up here) all night and his mods are an intake, chip, exhaust and a different BOV and it's on street tires.
I wouldn't have believed it either if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, those cars scoot pretty good with minimal mods. Remember turbo cars are more efficient at this altitude than the NA cars.

He races with High Altitude Imports so come check it out,PM me if you're interested or want more info.

I can belive those times. They make a lot of sense with those mods. I didnt think c5's ran that slow. Dam!
High altitudes will absolutely rob an engine of power, esp. if it doesn't have a charger cramming air into the intake manifold. Having a forced induction car in places like Denver and Santa Fe is a huge advantage.

Actually even the blown cars lose about a second up here just like the NA cars. A blower can only pump in as much air as the engine spins it and does lose some boost up here while a turbo car can still make the same boost as it does at sea level but it just takes a few 100 more rpm to attain the same boost.

i want to make an update to the kill story...i was out in my tsi with 900 pounds of people in it and pulled up to this other beatle that was all riced out. i was just playing with this beatle and we finally get a light my friend asks him if he wants to go and he said yea so i rev up a little...and chirp all 4 tires when the light changes and 1 and half car lenghts after first, second 5 car lengths then i just shut it down because of traffic and he stayed behind after that. REAL FAST hahaha........

Notice how a lot of these kill stories end up as trash talking boards?

That's why I'm just stating facts and not ripping on a car just because I'm not fond of it. VWs just aren't me but if I witness a fast one then I do give props.

Bear in mind that there are 2 trim levels of the turbo Beetle. The upper-level will run neck-and-neck with a DSM stock for stock. "REAL FAST hahaha" indeed... or, at least as fast as your car was before you massaged it. And when Beetle Turbo S owners begin to similarly massage their cars, I wonder if it will still be a laughing matter.

hey trailor trash u know a guy name John Reed up there at Penn Tech, hes pretty crazy guy lol. I think he just started there i forget what area he went in i think it has something to do with diesel engines.:p

My friend with the Jetta just ran a best of 14.35@97mph with just the basic mods and street tires, that's right on par with a well launched C5 Vette up here in Denver.
