Hey guys, i recently bought a 90 Tsi AWD w/ an engine from a 93. Well, i'm here at my house in the middle of my Big 16g install, and the ring that is inside the exhaust manifold where all 4 runners come together fell out and it was extremely deformed. It's oval shap instead of circular. Well, my question is, do i need that ring? I really don't want to put it back in like that, and i live quite a long ways from my local Mitsubishi parts house and don't wanna drive that far........

no its not needed, I believe its just there to align the exhaust mani with the turbo so you can bolt everything together.
When I had my mani and turbo ported I just chucked it in the garbage.

No, you won't have to. I did the exact same thing, just chucked the ring. If you have a new manifold to turbo gasket everything will be fine.

Thanks alot guys, it'll still be a little bit on the Big 16g install to be finished though. When the guy that put in the 93 engine into my 90, he bent the water and oil send lines all to hell! So i had to order them new from mitsubishi.....90 bucks worth of damned lines! :( But i guess i can look on the bright side huh? Atleast they won't be clogged with rust or coked with oil....

True, i should've, but i'll probably get to those sooner or later when i upgrade more stuff...... I got a SS oil send line on my 99 GS-Td though, doesn't that count for some credit??? ;)
