Well now we have two TurboXS bov reviews, one that vents into the intake and one that vents into the atmosphere, mine is the one that vents into the atmosphere :D

The install of the Type H bov was a piece of cake, take the old one off and install the new one(you'll need longer bolts though cuz the flange isnt threaded) and cap off the bov dump tube hole.
I put two washers in it and started the motor up. It idled normally, unlike with the stock bov the rpm's would of dipped to 400 or so. I revved it couple of times and the car never stalled, rpm's didnt dip below 750. I took it for a spin, floored it in first.... psssssssssssshhhhhhhhhht, floored it in second.... psssssssssshhhhhhhhhht and so on :D
The car never bucked or acted differently and never stalled either. Imo this is too good to be true since im still using a maf and not a vpc.

The feeling that you get when venting beside a riced out civic is well worth the money :D

Really?

I have been told time and time again that unless you have a VPC you car will bog out between shifts because the MAS has counted the air you are venting into the atmosphere, and therefore without that air the car floods out for a split- second. What does the Eclipse install kit include for the type H? What did you pay for the H and the install kit?

Brett.

I know what your talking about, everyone told me that my car would bog/stall/buck and run poorly, but nothing like that is happening.
But i did take out all the washers from it and took it out for a spin, the rpms fell to 500 and the car almost died. I put one washer back in and that fixed the stalling. Basically without any washers the bov is still open at idle, the extra washer puts pressure on the spring and that closes the bov at idle.

The install kit includes a 90 degree elbow, bov flange and some washers. The bov was 169 and the kit was 69.

I guess i should put a little warning here before everyone starts ordering bov's that vent to the atmosphere.

Before i ordered it i had a chance to try it out and see how my car ran with it. It ran fine just like i stated above, so i ordered it.
But the guy who let me try out his turboxs bov(he has a vpc) got it from his friend who said that his 1g(with a maf) ran terrible with it, so thats why he sold it. So his car ran terrible with it while my car ran fine with, why? Beats me, guess i was just lucky.

So before ordering a bov that vents into the atmoshere take this into account, it can run just fine or terrible with it.

WHOA I know where my next paycheck is going!!! muhuhaha evilandrew engaged

Anybody else notice the RFL designation. How much you wanna bet that stands for: Real F$%$ing loud?? :) :) TurboXS rocks my world

Real f$%#ing loud is right, just placed my order :) And turboxs will take my typeH one back with no problem.

Woah! Crazy. Does anyone have any more info on this TypeH-RFL? I hear the plain Type-H does 110dB when it vents, if this one does much more it will almost be like a subwoofer hitting under the hood (but high pitched). :)

that thing will scare small children and pets from like 4 blocks away :)

I head they leak though, is this true?

I had a feeling it was leaking because my a/f gauge was reading 1.2volts, but the gauge is fubared so its not reading correctly.
Ill pressure test my intake over the weekend so we'll see.

I'd be interested to see what someone with some power under the hood thinks of this BOV....I'm shopping now and the only advertising i see is "loudest one on the planet!" Does the RFL hold boost? does it leak at all? someone let me know

The rfl is louder then the type H even though its pitch is a bit lower. It does hold boost and it doesnt leak.
Imo the hks sounds the best, its a really high pitch. But i didnt get it because it doesnt bolt on to a 1g.

SHABBY:
I'm in the market for a new bov for my 97 talon awd and am either going with the turbo XS type H or the RFL, since you had both could you give me some info on both of them and is the RFL really that much louder then the type H?? i plan to run 19-20 psi on the street and about 25 psi at the track will both bov's hold this much boost?? and exactly how loud is REALLY F@#%in loud?? :) oh and one more thing i have a buschur upper i/c pipe with 1G bov, does that mean i should get the 1G install kit along with this bov to make it fit my buschur upper i/c pipe??

thanks
david

The rfl is louder than the type h, but its pitch is a bit lower. You can make both of them even louder by adding more washers, but if you add more the bov can start to flutter.
It kind of sounds like compression surge, but its just the bov opening and closing really fast.

I was driving beside a friend who had a type h on his talon, and after i vented beside him he said "oh ya its louder than mine".

Ya you will need the 1g install kit since you have a 1g bov flange.

just a note:
the type H and the RFL are the same BOV, with one minor difference. the type H can be vented back in to the intake, while the RFL has a horn where the intake plumbs back into the valve.

both are awesome! i have a type H going back into the intake. i had a LOUD stock BOV, and this is almost identical to the stocker. it was just leaking a little bit under higher boost, so i opted for a better one ;)

peace

Where did you buy the adapter kit from? I have the Type H and i need the kit fro thr Greddy flange...Right nbow i'm using the crappy Greddy Type S...>8/
go to www.turboxs.com and they have a page with all their adapters for the BOv's. just get the one for a 2nd gen. i think they are around 70 bucks, which to me i think it's a little overpriced for a little 90 degree elbow with a flange, but it makes the install super easy. took me ten minutes at most :)

If you're running anything over 17psi..don't get it

And it's not as loud as other people say it is, i personally think the HKS is louder...i can hear it from blocks away.

I'm at about 17psi and i already maxed out on the washers (6 of them), and if you have boost spikes, it WILL leak.

And it gets a little ricey after a while... cuz it's a low pitched PSHHHHHHHHHHH..... since my car is lowered people think i have hydraulics/bags on my car, which is very insulting >=P

i have a type h vents to the atmosphere, i have run 22psi through it and it holds up fine on a ete 32.
i think it sound better than most bov's, i would suggest the one that plumbs back in because my car runs rich between shifts this way you can have the best of both worlds.
