Got in the first race with my "new" GSX, happened to be an early '90s civic hatch. I thought I'd kill him no problem, turns out i was wrong. First time we went was from about a 50 mph roll, he happened to be beside me and I heard him kick it down. I left it in 4th and just waited for the turbo to spool, once it did I started (slowly) pulling away from him. He just happened to be going the same way I was and turned off on the same side street I was. The next time we went from a 10 mph roll, it was pretty even, my missing 2nd didn't help. At the next stoplight I thought I'd see if he wanted to go from a dead stop (heh-heh), he wouldn't stand for it. I think my 2-step might have scared him off. He was actually a fairly cool kid, turns out he had a B16 swap and claimed it was stock otherwise. He wouldn't pop the hood for me to check it out though. My mods are full 3" exhaust, MBC set at around 17 psi, FMIC, webcams "street" grind, DSMperformance "puppy" turbo, 550's, AFC, blah blah blah.......enough to run a 12.88 @ 105.80 on race gas anyway. I'm kinda doubting he was as "stock" as he was claiming.

they can be deadly sometimes. Swaps that is. Especially in light cars.
There's car around here, I forget what kind it originally was...some real piece of crap like a yugo or pinto.
He did a nice swap and the car looks like crap...but goddamn that thing hauls ass.

no way a b16 swap can hang with a 12 sec car
a FI, or nitrous B16 swap definately could if he has I/H/E and all the associated goodies. if it was gutted it adds even more to the 12 sec potential.

Like I said, the kid wouldn't let me pop the hood and take a look. Coulda been a B18 swap or something for all I know. He said it was "stock" but I know he had at least exhaust on it, who knows what else. Also, the 12 second pass was on race gas at 21 psi, in street trim with a passenger it's more like a mid to low 13 second car. Not too sure on civics, but they are LIGHT. 2200 pounds or so for an early 90s hatchback?? Not sure exactly....plus we raced from a roll, and only up to about 60 mph, not exactly the best scenario for an awd dsm with a fairly laggy turbo. I still won, but it wasn't the ass-kicking I was expecting.

not to question the kill... but if you would leave it in 4th going fifty, the turbo wouldnt have been spooled up at all to even let you pull on him. The stock turbo barely starts pulling in 4th at 60, much less an upgraded turbo going 50 in 4th

I didn't start pulling away at all until about 70 to 75 or so, hence me saying "I left it in 4th and just waited for the turbo to spool". Come to think of it, the road we were on had a speed limit of 55, so we were probably going close to 60 or 65, I wasn't really paying that much attention, I just looked back and noticed a civic appeared that wasn't there before. I saw him pull beside me and downshift (probably to 4th, wasn't that loud), so I got on it. It was neck and neck till i hit full boost. Unfortunately I had to shut it down right away due to traffic. Sorry I'm not that good at these kill stories, the 1.8 didn't give me much to write about. Wonder why..... :D

So does mine. I figured it was just a stock civic so why bother beating on the car. Yes, I SHOULD have downshifted to 3rd and embarassed him, but I didn't. I still won, didn't I?
