Ok here is the deal.

I have a turbo timer that tells my volts. I'm driving around and my volts are like 11.7 which is way not normal from my usual 13.sumthin.

While i was driving my volts just steadily dropped untill i got home and it was about 9.5 volts. I turned off the car...wouldnt start again. I charged my battery with a charger and i started back up and it was at 12.0-1 volts...and i drove to the store and bought an alternator and took it to get put on.

The alternator was making a whining noise aswell...so thats why I replaced that upfront. No more whining noise. But the car is still losing charge.

The alternator is putting about a full 14.4 volts...but its not getting to the battery I guess. Is there anything that would be causing this. Please help ASAP. Thanks in advance!

A bad battery could cause an alternater to go bad. Check yours with a load tester.

A load tester will put a large draw on your battery to see if it can hold voltage under that condition.

"like sumthin called a resistinator or sumthin like that "
Don't think so!

Just buy a new battery. What $50 bucks, $80 for something real good. Sears will even put it in:D

Have you checked the alt fuse??
Yeah I just checked it. Looks good to me, your talkin about the 80v thing right in the fuse box thats like at an angle?

Anyway...im takin my battery to autozone tomorrow...well today i should say to get it checked out for free. I hope its the battery, so it will be an easier and less expensive fix.

I don't know what its called, i forget what the guy said...he said sumthin about like inline fuses or sumthin instead of using regular fuses, the wire itself acts like a fuse and that could of burnt out. I have no clue....so hopefully like I said...its the battery.

I've read on these somewhere on these boards that if the battery cables are corroded then it could cause the battery to not hold its charge. So you might want to check those too.:D
No my cables are pretty clean.....any other ideas? I think im going to take it to this automotive electrical place tomorrow....please keep the ideas coming...and i'll keep you informed. Thanks!

You need to do an amperage test on the car while it's running to see how much current it is pulling. This requires an expensive testing meter, and an auto electric shop will have one.

Well guys...I figured it out....turns out it was the fusable link in the fusebox the big 80A thing....was broke but didnt look like it from just looking at it....was getting power from one side but not the other....$2.49 later....I have power once again!!

Thanks all for the help....probably saved me a lot of money.

Doesn't matter. I do have power both before and after the fuse. I just replaced the alt. relay too, but the alternator won't recharge the battery. The alt. and batt. are new, but I still have the same problem as the guy who started this thread. Any more ideas where the voltage could be stopping at and how to test for them?
