So much for racing Ferrari's anytime soon.

I recently went to Keystone Dragstip and wanting to put up a good show I messed with the boost. After 2 runs (in 6!!! hours) I discovered on the way home that I ran only 11psi (stock?). That and the 15.2@88 combined with 3.5k launches (kept staging second and not having time to set my revs) it kinda stunk. On the way home I pulled over and dialed the boost to 22psi (not planned). Needless to say it was a lot of fun (94 octane) until BAM! The car began stuttering at any boost level above 3psi. The engine also was rapping thru the entire rev range...

The next day the coolant, battery and brake lights were on and the top end was still rapping. Just as I was pulling into work, the car completely died as the alternator failed. (I knew it was comming as the lights were getting dimmer and dimmer all the way there.

At the shop I discovered that one of the plugs was pretty much melted. So we did a compression check (with a practically dead battery and without WOT) and came up with (from left to right) 140 - 142 - 104 -104

We replaced the plugs and the rapping is still there. In additon, if I tromp it in first huge piles of white smoke come out the tailpipe but doesn't seem to any other time unless I take it to 5.5+ and even then its hardly noticable.

Mech says that the head is warped but I'm not losing any coolant that I can tell. Maybe 3-4 cyclinders have a breech that's minor??

Any idea what I may have toasted to cause the rapping, smoke?

BTW

1) the car still seems to run well (speed wise)

2) the winner of the Fast and furious night at Keystone was a 1G eclipce running a 10 sumthing at 130 sumthing according to my cousin. And I missed it Dammit!

Hardcore detonation at that boost level probably. Since it's 2 cylinders close together that are down in compression you probobaly killed off your headgasket.
Get the head off, check to make sure there's no piston damage and get the head decked (if needed) and a new headgasket installed.

Actually TSITalon92, I never asked WHY or HOW I wacked the car, just WHAT did I wack. I appreciate your great insight.

The plugs where BP7 gapped at .29.

As for not lowering it, It was dark out and when I went to change it the second time I unscrewed it all the way which caused it to fall apart. So on the side of the highway, I'm crawling under the car looking for it. When I rescrewed it, 18psi is where it ended up.
