Hey guys.. I've ripped apart many dashes etc, but not the 2g Center vent. I tried to shine something in there to see if it was similar to the 1g's and I couldn't see a thing.

Question 1: Is the Hazard light powered with a light to illuminate at night, as well as the rear defrost?

(mine is pitch black up there, the only light is when I have the rear defrost on)

Question 2: How do I replace this bulb?

Question 3: most likely.. I have to remove this center vent.. how?

I'm asking about the lights and the center vent.. NOT the regualr HVAC controls or stereo. I couldn't find it in the searches.. any help would be appreciated!

That panel is kinda a PITA to get out.. cause you pry and pull and pry and it doesnt come out, just when your about to stop or about to permantly scar the dash it flys out. There should be a light up there, easy to change from behind.

well taking out the vent wasn't so bad at all.. putting it in was tougher! :)

FYI the bulb that fits inside the hazard light is a small 12V light found at radioshack.. it's TEENY, almost like an LED!

I couldn't bang out the light for my defroster.. pisses me off.. have to figure out a way to pry it out.. and I didn't see a place for the winshield wiper switch.

Is there a light on that one?

And is there any bright way to get the teeny little rear defroster lights out.. and also where would I get the bulb? It looks as if that one is soldered in.. could be more difficult! :(

Lol, YES! I just got frustrated one night because things were so dark.. so I asked around, and there are supposed to be lights! Dang, so I am going about trying to replace 'em.

So... is there supposed to be a light on the rear windshield wiper switch?

I think I'm going to have to do some button ripping!

How did all you lights burn out?? alternator go to 20 volts?

I am thinking there is a light there but I keep all the lights real dim for better night vision so I am not 100%. Better yet, there is no light there but there is an led inside the rear defogger when on.

Nope, just those top set decided to die out.. the other HVAC controls are fine.

The light inside the rear defogger works when it's on.. just not the regular light. There are two little DEEP holes that you can reach to get the bulbs.. but when I unscrew the bulbs I can't knock 'em out! :(

hey i have the same problem, when i first got the car i could swear that my hazzard light button and rear windsield button lit up. but then after i got my alarm installed they didnt work. good thing i found this thread because it bugs the hell out of me. oh yeah did you ever figture out how to get the rear windshield button lights out?

Ive ripped that pannel out like 20 times so far. I kept having to go to radio shack when I was doing my LED conversion, and if the hazard button is not hooked up your turn signals dont work. Found that out the hard way. But, its not bad, just be mindful of the cable attatched to the side of the vents and all should be good. Oh, when it come out the top tabs on the vents will probably dissengage while the bottom ones stick (youll see). Just slide a screwdriver in there to release the bottom tabs and your set.

Take the switch inside and take it apart there. If you are careful all the pins and springs should stay put. For the LED in that button I had to bend the leads into a "z" and fenagle it in there so it pointed forward... its now the brightest blue button on my dash... I gotta find a 3200 cmd led for the HVAC...
