Well everyone I picked up a cheap parts car - 91 talon tsi. Messed up body but has a perfect engine. I'm planning on swapping everything over to my DL. I know other people have done this, there should be a vfaq...
Pics coming soon

That's sweet. Good luck. I am right in assuming that the swap is a FWD turbo right?

All 1G cars come with disk brakes on all 4 wheels.;)

Man these front axles don't want to come out. It's ok, I'll get the breaker bar. And for the questions: Yes I have disc brakes all the way around and yes this is a turbo fwd swap. Also, I'm taking out all of the A/C system:D

You might want to get a deep well 32mm IMPACT socket & rent an electric impact - have someone put their foot on the brakes - I just destroyed a regular 32MM socket & breaker bar I've had for 10 years.

Do you mind showing us a picture of the car and the rear drum brakes?? I would love to see one of those...
Sorry it took me so long to respond, I was out looking at my rear wheels just to make sure I wasn't smoking crack but I took of my hubcap on my drivers side rear and peeked in there and I was totally sure I saw a drum. I got into my house and I got my disposeable cam and came back out to jack up the car to take the wheel off when... looking across the car underneath it, on the passenger side wheel on the inside.. there was the a$$ of a brake caliper staring at me... Im hella confused at this point so I take another look at my wheel and I figured out my rear wheels have some sort of dust cover on them that LOOKS like a drum from the exterior but looking at them from the back it is indeed a caliper-rotor set up. :( Dam im hella embarrased.

I didn't mean to sound like an ass. I just wanted to see if yours came with drums since I have heard some 1G guys mention rear drums too. It's stated that all 1G came with brake disks, but who knows for sure:dunno: Anything could be expected from those guys at the DSM plant. One fine example of that is the CW that affects some 2G's...;)

It's all good.. I am happy to admit I am occasionally misinformed but once I get the pix I'll post them on here for everyone to see what I mean. They are weird dust covers and from a certain angle they look EXACTLY like the drum brakes on my mom's 96' Plymouth Voyager... Not having actually messed w/ the rear wheels other than to change an occasional tire I made the assumption since this was BARELY a step up from the base model Mitsu would cust costs and put drums on there since honestly the words "1.8 liter" and "fast" dont go well in the same sentence..

I think it would be cheaper overall to just keep all the same parts for all trim options of the car. It would keep production costs down since they would only have to make one part for all the cars instead of make a crappy drum for just the base model. And i think that wouldn't lower the sticker price on the car very much if they did that.

UPDATE!

Hey I'm back,
The swap worked. Not one error code. However, I was in a hurry and didn't doulbe-check timing; resulting in a jump of one or two teeth. Pistons hit the valves, etc. It's not the bad, the pistons are fine. For anyone who tries this swap, doulbe check everything!
I could be on the road right now...
I've got the machine shop doing a valve job w/ SS valves. I can still grin because I heard that turbo spool!
