ok i've had a ticking noise in my car for about a month now and i thought was a lifter or something or a belt but now its ticking non stop really loud and fast like ti ti tititittitititititittititi (DRIVES ME INSANE). I also think that my car is slower now (i think) but my boost gauge is solid at 10psi. any help would be great im just about ready to sell this car and go back with a volkswagen laterz all, kevin.:(

First, try the search button...

...second, check your exhaust manifold. If the tick speeds up when you rev the engine, and you're losing some power, it's most likely an exhaust leak. 1G manifolds have a tendency to crack and/or shear off bolts, so I'd check that out first.

i tried the search button and it gave me some good idea's but i wanted to see if anyone else had a thought on the matter, anyway my car just died on me yesterday like completely shitted out on me going through an intersection and now it wont start up at all. SOMEONE HELP ME PLSSSSE!!!!!!, thank you and goodnight im out.

If the clicking was coming from behind your dash, and the car doesn't even start any more, you probably had some leaky capacitors on your ECU. Check that out, if it smells like your mom or at all fishy (j/k, don't hate :D), or you notice any burn-like marks on it, then you'll wanna get that replaced.

i just replaced my exhaust many tonight with another 1g off a junker and still nothing same thing i broke one bolt though when getting it off though but it still isnt starting help plseeeee

is your timing belt still good?? check to see if it has jumped a tooth or something. the ticking could have been your fuel pump also. mine is kind of noisey. it sounds like its coming from the engine but if you check closer...its behind you. good luck

lol dont kill me but i loved how you made the noise come to life through words..wheer wheer wheer..i wouldve never thought of that..yeah some fuel pumps are loud and my car is making the same ticking noise but i think mine might be that it only happens when at a certain rpm so i dont think its lifter tick or itd be happening all the time right?..anyways no pun intended..lol,later dude and good luck with the car

ITS YOUR LIFTERS! mine was ticking worse and worse everyday while it was getting colder out...even on some colder days id be driving and suddenly bam! it'd start stalling, then it'd kick back in...stall a little...kick back in...like i hit a wall. My check engine light even came on once! Fortunetly i already ordered my lifters and the next day they came in. I installed them, ticking noise went away completely and my car was running perfectly without any unknown stalls.

well me and a buddy took out my fuel pump today and examined it with a volt meter its only reading at 2 volts but its dc volts i think im going to get a new fuel pump while i have it off and do the lifters as well, how hard is it too do the lifters i have never worked inside an engine besides an old vw bug engine ok thanks again. P.S. i have to get the 99 and up lifters from a mitsubishi dealer correct? laterz.

i got my lifters from that guy...its the same type of lifters mitsu sells but a lot cheaper...like a hundred bucks cheaper. it wasnt too bad to install. just take off the valve cover, spark plug wires and what not. knock off the rocker arm on the lifter. pull the old lifter out and pop the new one in and put the rocker arm back into place. Took me and my buddy about 2 hours to do it because we never did it before. The scariest part was starting up the car and there's a REALLY LOUD ticking sound for a few minutes. That was freaky, i just wanted it to go away! But it was normal but still...it was freaky =)
