I think ricedoutrs was bluffing about the wing. I wouldn't buy anything from him the way he acted here recently.

holy crap!! I had no idea they were that much new! wow. well here is an updated pit of the project in its current state

as you can see it cracked as it dried but I can fix it ...just gonna tka a little time to do. the metal bars are the brackets. I just used whatever I could find laying around my garage just to get an idea of length and where to bend them. for the conversion I would order some stronger metal bars

o yea...teh pix look a little squashed for some wierd reaason but I can assure you it doesnt look liek that in real life. I am trying my hardest to make it as flush with the hood!! I am gonna drive like 1 hour just to go get some hella lights that are a tiny bit smaller than what I have now. and I will test the hellas side-by-side to the ones I got

I haven't posted here for a long time, but when I was crazy into DSM's, I sketched out something just like this. I planned on using the projection beams from the earlier Lexus ES300's. They use them for the high and low beams (separate). They just kind of sit in the housing, and could be easily removed and used in a project like this. I planned on going to a wrecking yard and finding a car where the headlight housing was damaged, but the projectors were OK.

project update

ok I am gonna smack myself because I may have to do the clay model over again. I made some mistakes with the first clay model so if I do it again it would be alot easier and better.

I was looking for lights on the internet and I stumbeled upon those "euro projector"style headlights. I might order a set to try them. I know this project is takign a while but I wanna make sure it comes out good!!! if I used projector light that means the conversion would be practicaly %100 flush with the hood lines:D because projector lights are smaller.

Alright! Projectors, are definately the answer. Smaller light housing, more efficient bulbs, better beam pattern correction and looks hella sweet to top it all. I was hoping that you would try these.

On a side note, since you had so much trouble with the clay, why not pickup a solid chunk of styrofoam and carve/sand it to shape. Actually, you can even cut it with a special tip that goes into a soldering iron. If you live near an AC Moore or some sort of art and crafts shop, they would have pieces of styrofoam large enough to work with.

Awesome idea, great design thus far. You make 'em, I'll buy 'em. Whatever price would be worth it, because replacing motors is a bitch, and pricey as all hell. Keep up the good progress, I want them!!:D

I have heard of this sort of thing used with model airplanes with the foam stuff. how stiff is the foam? sounds kinda wierd but I will try to pick somethign up. it seems it would be much easier so I dont have top wait for clay to dry and worry about it cracking!

the styrofoam is like when u get a big packet in the mail, its got it around it just to keep it in place int he box. usually like that. works well my friends use to do stuff with it.
