I don't know if there is a screwy thing going on here, but this morning I warmed up the car to go to work and when I proceeded on it seems that the car has lost ALOT of power? The factory boost guage is showing boost to 12psi, but I am not feeling that usuall surge as boost builds. It just seems flat? BTW it's a 92 plymouth laser AWD.

Cooler denser air should make it run stronger. James is probably right- boost leak.

I lifted the hood while the engine was running to try and find something readily amis, but initially every line I can see running from the turbo appears to be attached? Can anyone explain in more detail how to check for leaks and in what locations. It warmed up considerably today, but I still get nothing when I give it the gas, the factory boost guage is quickly running up to around 12psi, but I can't feel any kind of surge?

run search on "boost leak testing". Then all you need is bike pump or air compressor set at 15-18psi and a fitting to attach to the air compressor or pump that will attach to the nipple on the j pipe (compressor outlet pipe). A vacuum hose and a hose clamp work for me.

Go to www.vfaq.com that'll tell you how to make the coupling you'll need with a niple and how to use it......good luck

IMO colder air is sometimes a loss of power for me
i think my car jus runs wayyyy to lean when its cold out, the MAS cant attribue the density of the air since it does not calculate the temperature

this can give false readings and give you less fuel that you really need, its just my opinion really...

Here is something directly from the DSMLINK tuning guide

· Coolant temps below 206F get full timing
· Coolant temps above 224F lose two degrees of advance
· Coolant temps between those two lose only one degree
· Intake temps above 84F or below 34F lose one degree

Thanks for all the help. It sounds like cold temperatures could be some of the problem? Anyway to help solve some of the mystery I ordered a mechanical boost guage yesterday so I can determine for sure if it's a boost leak.

I've got the same car and it hauls ass in the cold. If you are still running the side mount check the outlet pipe. You may find some holes.
