So I just bought some clear tail lights off this guy for only $50 (I jumped on that one). I asked the guy what bulbs to put in co I don't get pulled over. He said paint the clear bulbs with red nail polish (2 coats) and that should be good. So I did and they looked real nice. One problem, I just drove 30 miles and checked them out and the lens was filled with smoke and the bulbs were all charcoal looking(still working though). This sucks. What should I do?

I thought of that, but a lot of them look almost pink. Pink is illegal. And $7 multiplied by 6 bulbs = more than my cheap ass wants to spend. Before I give in and buy bulbs, is there any other option?

i have the clear tails too, and what i did(to keep the FUZZ) away from me was.i bought the red lights and put that red rubber cover over them ,they are really really red........(THE FUZZ=POLICE).just finished watching CHIPS.yall remember that show?

Hey SID, Does the marker action look RED when light up? Or does it look sort of pink or something. If its red, then that sounds like the perfect (cheapest solution). And it would be fun to say that I colored my bulbs with a marker.

We made the coats a bit thicker, several passes actually before it turned a nice shade of red, there is still a technique I haven't tried, its to buy transparent spary paint, don't know how these would stand up to the heat though, well the bulbs are still nice and red and the ultimate "almost" free solution for my red bulbs
