Hey just got back my ported 2g Exhaust manifold. Anyway I was told that now you don't use the metal inlet seal anymore becuase mainly the lip it seated on if ported away. I was told only problem with this is might blow out gaskets more often.

Anyone reuse there seal or left it out. I went ahead and took the stud out and am using 4 bolts to bolt the turbo to the manifold to make removal of the gasket eaiser in case.

Any info?

Thanks,
Scott

Most people have their exhaust manifold and turbo ported don't use the seal ring anymore since there isn't anything for it to seal against. The usual porting process removes the step in both unless you specificly request the steps be retained. I didn't feel removing the whole step was going to make a big difference in flow so when I bought my B16G I asked Forced Performance to port it flush with the 7cm ring and I did the same to the EVO exhaust manifold that replaced my cracked 1G manifold. I haven't heard of many people blowing their inlet gaskets but I decided to play it safe.
So, unless you still have a step in your exhaust manifold you won't be using the seal ring.

OK cool. I'll leave it out then. The step on the manifold is gone but still one one the turbo housing. I decided against using that since it would l\likely rattle and that would really annoy me. LOL

Thanks guys!

Think about having the step ported out of your turbo (like Blackboost says) and switching from those plat plugs back to the normal NGK plugs.
Leaving the step in the turbo after taking it out of the E.M. is worse flow wise than not taking it out of both and using the seal ring.

Hi Steve. Yeah I already switched the plugs a while ago. Guess I forgot to remove it from the signature. I was also thinking of proting the edge off the turbo. My weekend project. +) Thanks for the info though I appreciate it,.
