I'm looking to get a palm pilot with datalogging software. What choices do I have? and if there is more then 1 good one which is the best and why.

It's going to be a New Year's gift to me :)

Pocketlogger is the only one that I know of that uses a palm. From what I hear, it is very good.

I have seen stuff about Tunerstein or something also?

yes please post why it is better. Also what does TMO stand for?

TMO runs on a laptop computer....

Upsides... Easier to see, can chart more than 3 things at once, more options, can be powered off a power inverter, easier (in my opinion) to get data to show to other people, because i plug my laptop into my LAN and biggityBAM i can upload the logs on my server and im done.

Downside
Costs
Size of equipment

the tmo is wayyy more expensive. i have the pocketlogger and its really good for datalogging. i would get it again, it gets the job done. i have the palm m100, works fine. you can also use the m101. thats all i know, you really dont need any other palm, they will all record the same thing.

$300 plus you need a laptop and I bought my whole setup for arounf $250. The Pocketlogger does only show 3 parameters at once but it logs 12.
The other nice thing with a Palm Pilot is you can keep it in the glove box and log at a moments notice,I've even plugged it in and had the thing logging while waiting at a stoplight.
I personally wouldn't want to have to lug an expensive laptop to the track every weekend either.

Logging on a laptop would be nice for at the strip and stuff and it intimidates the "old school" guys but I still like being able to keep the Palm in my car at all times and the Palm m100 is down under $80 brand new.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't have the balls to be staring at a logger while boosting. The three parameters that you can view while boosting is plenty IMO. I like the ability to take my palm out of my shirt pocket and have it logging within a few seconds. Then you can go to class and show your friends what your car is doing lol. Or, better yet, review your logs in the stands at the track without making a big scene out of it. Plus, where do you mount a labtop so that you can see it while boosting?

Question about data logging cable. Is this what I'm looking for?

http://www.pptracing.com/

I'm wondering does this cable work with a m125? and what is a REAL ALDL CONNECTOR? I do not want to spend that much on a cable if it is not as good as a ALDL one. Please tell me the differences

Datalogger Cables DSM 1st Gen * Syclone/Typhoon * Chevrolet/Pontiac

And Most other OBD1 Vehicles that utilize the RS232 communication protocol.

2 piece unit

Cable to plug into ALDL (Spade to RJ45) 10'

Interface unit (RJ45 - DB9)

Cable can be left in car at all times, unlike others!

Customs Links available upon Request

Cables currently do not have actual ALDL connectors, only shielded spade connectors. This does NOT affect the way the cable works. The cable fits very tight and will not vibrate lose. We recommend folding the cable around and zip tying it to the ALDL outlet, just for a little extra pull strength.

Should you spend the extra money for a REAL ALDL connector? That's up to you.

I have the PPT cable. I like it because i can leave it in my car all the time, and i have other cables made up that ive left in friends cars that dont have loggers. Its really simple. Higly reccomended, and unlike TMO, PPT has left the component P/Ns showing so you can replace them should it fail. Also, PPT's cable can work with a palm and tunerstein or a laptop and tunerstein or TMO software.

sounds good. I think I will get the cable from him, if I can get the software from someone or somewhere else
