AWD will cross the finish line first but the GST will trap higher. The FWD can't compete with the AWD on a level playing surface. (equal mods)

awd owns the 1/4, but on the highway, look out!!!

peace (can you imagine a 500 fwd eclipse on the highway, with a good tranny and gears, it would be a supra killer dont you think)

Traction is a just important in drag racing as horsepower. Look at what happens when evn a 7000hp funny car loses traction in the first 60 feet, they run only 10s or so at 60mph. :p

Yes from a roll equally modded cars the fwd will beat the AWD car but drag racing is done from a standing start and shows off driving skill as much as horsepower. If people want to race me from a roll I just tell them to put their car on a dyno and you can prove to me that you have more ponies but I'm not impressed with the people with loads of horsepower that can't get it to the ground.

debating this beause this kid thinks his fwd can take out anyhting and doesnt care about suspension/tires just how much hp he can get for racing in the 1/4
Horsepower one can't transfer to the ground without losing traction is useless.

maybe. you ever run a supra or actually drive a supra on the highway? those things are highway bruisers. modded ones are SICK in the top end!! not saying that a gst couldnt take one, but a modded supra usually will walk it though. cars that can make over 600hp on stock bottoms dont play games. im not tyring to make this some stupid argument. im just stating that supras are one of the meanest highway racing cars there is. ever see getaway in stockholm?

edit: just remembered this so that the thread doesnt turn into #4532 on the topic of fwd vs awd. this is a kick ass, well written thread. http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=65779

i like the vid with the gs-t sporting a t3/t4 that beat the supra and the vr-4...dope!:D :D :D

i dunno...i would like to see a video or proof of a 400hp awd beating a 400hp fwd in the 1/4 mile. not trying to start a war or anything, but just curious. i think it would be close and a good race personally. the video of the gst walking the supra and 3/s is on racingflix.com go to highway racing and you will find it, sweet vid.

Are you joking? Have you ever driven a high HP FWD car? you get no traction until 70mph or so unless you have alot of time an money on a properly setup drivetrain and suspention. Make the power then talk

See my sig below. I think driver has alot to do with it.
u ran an 11, on a small 16g? Jeff harrington with drags only ran an 11.9 and that was with a 20g,

also, 117 traps would mostly likely be a low 12 second car, and were talking about cars with big turbos here, not a small 16g

I ran 12.3 @ 114 with a 16G, I have only got the L2R to the track a couple times with poor tuning, I ran 97mph in the 1/8 so I know once I get it dialed in(next time I go) It should run alot stronger. 20Gs are no longer big turbos

yes i know, 20g's are still bad mofos though and a 16g fwd is not gonna hit 11's on street tires, so exactly where did you get those 11 seconds time slips, dreams maybe zzzz

Sorry to break your bubble pal......it wasn't a dream...infact it was very real. I was there to see it. I am using a 20G in my AWD & run a decent time. Had similar opinions like yours about fwd's until Eric hit the 11's followed by a mirage breaking my time. It has to do a lot with driving skill. Don't close your mind to everything without looking into facts. I have seen it happen on more than one occasion.

Nope, his 16g didn't hit 11s on street tires, but, 12.3 is pretty damn quick. He has real life 11 second slips on his new turbo. On street Tires. FWD. I expect to see at LEAST 11.70s out of Erics car. Easy. Yes, still on street tires.

im not really closing my mind but his mods in profile say small 16g, and thats never been done in a fwd to hit 11's, but than he says that he hit a 12.3 with with the 16g so im kind of confused, than he starts talking about the L2R, i just want him to clear things up you know :scholar:

peace
