I've tried e-mailing quite a few different performance shops (buschur, RRE, Mach V, Forced Performance) about the price for just a 3" inlet muffler w/o the catback because I will have all piping done cheaply by local shop. I am looking for Dynomax Ultraflow, or Apex'i N1...but none of the shops have replied. Does anyone know where I can get a good price on just the muffler alone?

ebay may have them...check the dynomax website...they should have a vendor list.

I have an Arospeed muffler (2.5inch inlet) that has two 3.5inch tips. I'm not a big fan of the cannon exhaust (one tip). I got it for 90 bucks and it sounds really good and looks good--polished stainless steel! got it from www.emiperformance.com (retail price is 150).

Dynomax from Summit Racing.

here is a link to the exact muffler i bought from the website i bought it from. it's a magnaflow stainless steel with a 3" inlet and a 4" tip. they have dual tips too at that place. it arrived at my house about a week after the transaction with UPS ground shipping. I have heard that the dynomax muffler kinda sound like ass. this magnaflow sounds really really good on my car. it's the race series so it's just a straight through 3" pipe with little holes in it for sound deadening. the muffler that was on the car before i bought it was purchased from RRE i think and it sounded pretty nasty. plus this one looks a lot better too. with my 3" highflow cat this exhaust isn't that loud at all either. i HIGHLY recommend it. :)

many places sell just the muffler portion. Summit Racing has 10+ different kinds. hell your local autoshop probably carries a few 3"+ mufflers. I know advanced auto parts and pepboys around here do.

Make sure you let us know how it sounds and performs, it looks promising for that price.
I'll let you know, but it'll be a while before I get the 3" cat-back piping.. I have to pay for over $2000 in stuff in the next month (insurance, license to make $$, and school :(). But yea.. when I get it on there will be a review in parts reviews.

Wouldn't it be interesting to show up at the strip with a totally riced appearing ride (Neon lights, wing, LED's, chrome double wipers, lots of graphics, Japanese lettering, a vtec sticker or three, etc) and run mid 12's against the RWD's? :)

Like that would happen....

But it's funny to think about.

hmm. I should tell Gary Andiotis to rice out his gsx a little.. he runs mid 10's right now. lol.

He can then take it to a track where he is not known and he can shake them up a little :).

Ive heard quite a few different style exhausts on DSM's, I think my favorite muffler is the Borla XR-1, that is what I run and love it so. You can order this directly from Jegs or Summit.

The problem is, that you'd have to LOOK at the car all the time. Sure it'd be funny, but do you really want to be a rolling joke? :)
