Helllooo fellow DSMers!! That's right ladies and gents...Slipspeed is back from the desert! I'm sure many of you don't remember me and several more just don't care, sooo...on to my racing related subject:
Last night I got into San Antonio after traveling over 24 hours on four flights from Saudi Arabia. I'm tired and hungry for some American food so a bunch of us roll to Applebees in my sister's 99 Civic Ex and her friends 96 Accord. I'm riding in the back of the civic (holding on for dear life because my sister is a maniac..blah blah...) and I look out the window to see a 3G Eclipse pull up next to our friend's 96 Accord. To my knowledge, the Accord has several bolt ons but no serious work (ie upgraded fuel, internals etc). I couldn't see any mods for the 3G.
The light turns green and after a slight chirp on the wheels (pathetic burnout perhaps??) the Accord and 3G are off. It's a sllooowwww race (if you can even call it that) and I see that the Accord is pulling little by little on the 3G! I was pretty sure it was the 6cyl Eclipse but who knows. The 3G pulls off for a turn but at the last minute I can see out the back window that he is turning back onto the main road. The accord falls back and we lose sight of them for a minute.
Hwy410 opens up to 4 lanes and as we crest a bridge I can see the two cars behind us side by side again. The painstakingly creep by and I can see the accord is nudging by the 3G. I check my sisters speedo and she is clocking 75mph so these guys were going well over 90. The 3G never left the Accord behind! I was sure that the extra two cylinders would come to his advantage at the higher speed but it was just sad! I haven't done much research on the 3G's but apparantly they have trouble holding their own...tsk tsk tsk. Do we even consider the 3G's part of DSMs??
