I have a quick questions about when to replace a leaking clutch master cylinder. After looking into why my gears grind like hell and thinking that the clutch may need adjusted, I noticed that it was leaking. I don't a have an exact picture, but I found this one on VFAQ and it looks similar to mine...

Should I bother trying to get more life out of it or just replace it? I think I'm going to try to adjust it in the mean time, but I just wanted to seek some input as to what the threshold for replacement should be.

Thanks!

If it is leaking and getting air inside it will move the engaugement point(grinding), if you adjust it then replace the master it could be out of spec and burn the clutch out or grind. Check you fluid level and if you get a new one try to put the adjustment bolt where the old one was to get it close.

That picture is not the clutch master cylinder, that would be the brake or something because it is next to the gas?

A new master is around $100, I would check it if its really leaking.

Actually, that is the clutch master cylinder, it comes through the firewall near the gas there; check the VFAQ for better pics.

I'm thinking I'm going to replace it anyway because I'm going to be giving the car to my gf and she's complaining of too much pedal pressure. There's only an ACT 2100 on there but with 140k+ miles on the tick, that assembly may just be wearing out.

Does anyone know where to get the entire assembly?

I think that is the brake master cylinder, I have changed clutch master cylinders and they are a little different. There would be a rod going to the pedal, not those 3 or whatever. Correct me if i'm wrong. What vafq was that from?

If the actual clutch master cylinder is leaking. that is all you have to buy(maybe check slave too).
check for whatever your looking for at partznet.com
If you fix the leak there will be more pressure...

The VFAQ came from here... and that's actually the clutch return spring in the picture.

Thanks for the suggestion on replacement, I found one for around $60 shippped, but I'll check that partznet.com as well, I haven't heard of them.

Yeah, your wright.

I haven't seen a setup like that, there is a rod connecting it to the pedal across. I thought I saw the rod poking out the center but the coils were covering it up. That is much different than my 95.

If you order from partznet, call and get a dsmtalk discount.
Those are oem parts.
