As you can see from my profile i have an awd and a fwd tsi. Both run pretty good. the awd is a 12 second car and the fwd is easily a high 13/low 14 second car. when i go into town my friend always hooks me up with races in the fwd daily driver. usually just hondas, neons, etc. occassionally he gets me to race some pretty good modded v8's. this night was one of those occasions.

97+ z28 camaro 6 speed mod's (runs a 13 flat 1/4 mile)
jet ecu
headers
full 3" exhaust
intake
3.73 gears
not sure what else

my fwd tsi's mods
k&n
home depot 3" intake
boost controller at 18 psi
190 lph fuel pump
magnecore wires w/ ngk plugs
open exhaust after the cat (stock downpipe)
95 unported exhaust manifold.

first we decide to go from a roll. the guy was such an asshole. he says that i'll even let his girlfriend drive. i was like sure whatever. my passenger leans over and proceeds to tell me that she is twice the driver he is. i start to laugh. anyway, from a stop he just rapes me i can't hook up at all. so, i say we go from a 40 mph roll. the camaro driver switches with his girlfriend. we get back on the highway and line them up at about 40 mph. he nails it first and i instantly spool and begin to put about a 1/2 car length on him. from 40 - 110 i was ahead. i shift into 4th and he would begin to pull on me. we raced again with the same results. I think he was a little dissappointed that he didn't beat me as bad as he thought he would. If i would have had my awd car i would have raped him from a stop and a roll. ( i just need to get the awd finished sometime.)

Yesterday, I took the 2.5" ss ahp downpipe off my awd and bolted it onto my fwd. I don't have a cat or the rest of the exhaust on it. Now, you talk about a pissed off car. my fwd sounds sick as hell. you can hear the turbo at idle. ;) i now spin the beginning of 3rd. i can really light up second now, just about as bad as i do 1st. sorry for the long post.

I laughed when my friend told me that because i could tell that she was a lot better driver than he was. :p you're right some women can drive the wheels off their car.

i am surprised that a lt1 pulled you in 4th gear.

Usually there torque heavy engine dies up top, unless they have a nice cam.

ls1's on the other hand, whole different ball game. :)
Are you serious? People bag on the LT1 waaaay too much.. I run neck and neck with stock LS1s up top .. even pulled a 2000 SS from 100~130mph.. due to driver error? who knows ... but I have no problems hitting 150mph and beyond.. I guess they suck big time up top though...:D Ill take yer word for it..hehe

1993 ~ 1997 Fbodys (Includes Camaro and Firebird) -> LT1
1998 ~ 2002 Fbodys (Includes Camaro and Firebird) -> LS1

Hope that helps some.. base models (Camaro and Firebird) have V6s .... Z28, 1LE, SS, T/A, WS6 have v8s

lt1's are low 14 high 13 sec car stock, which more going low 14 from what i've read.

and considering i've seen videos on ls1.com of
lt1's with i/h/e still get pulled up top against a stock ls1. I seem to think the ls1 has superior top end.

Can't disagree.. it does have a superior top end to a stock LT1... look into the LT4 VS LS1 debate ;) Simple change of Cam and heads evens the field easily..

My car in stock trim AUTO 3:23 gear ran 14.1 @ 97mph.. with 74,000 miles on the clock and was 6 years old at the time.. I can positively tell you I also had burnt clutches in the trans.. no reason a manual could not hit 13s with ease..unless of course... shitty driver ;)

Its funny i have a 93 Z-28 LT1 and people always assume it is faster than my talon. The Z is more of a daily driver to me it is fully loaded with T-Tops and all. It runs a mid 13 lightly modded(13.54 best to date). The power is more up top than down low. At around 2500-3000 rpms is when it come alive. Mine is a automatic with a stock stall. I can only hold about 1000 rpms at the line. So coming out of the whole isnt that great but once it hits about 2500 rpms it goes. Anyways good kill on the camaro.

isn't the lt1 the one that has the lt1 troque rpm and ls1 like top end??

that they used in the GS vette and special edition camaro?

Yeah the LT4 came in the Grand Sport and a few select 27th Anniv. Camaros. What helped it a ton was a longer Red line.. raised from 5,700RPM to 6,300RPM, its suppose to have the "low end grunt of an lt1 and the high end pull of the LS1, best of both worlds".

Compared to the LT1 Ratings these things were beast ;) also notice the LS1 like HP ;)

1995 LT1 Camaro
275 HP @ 5000 rpm / 325 Ft.-Lbs. @ 2400 rpm
1997 LT4 Firehawk:
330 HP @ 5800 rpm / 340 Ft.-Lbs. @ 4500 rpm
1997 LT4 Camaro SS:
330 HP @ 5800 rpm / 340 Ft.-Lbs. @ 4500 rpm

1998-01 LS1 Firebird Formula/Trans Am:
305 HP @ 5200 rpm / 335 Ft.-Lbs. @ 4400 rpm
1998-01 LS1 Camaro Z28:
305 HP @ 5200 rpm / 335 Ft.-Lbs. @ 4400 rpm
1998-01 LS1 Firebird Formula/Trans Am WS-6:
320 HP @ 5200 rpm / 345 Ft.-Lbs. @ 4400 rpm

You can see how the LT4 is serious competition.. The LT1 had a few more changes than just head and cam switch over.. Fuel rails, 28lb injectors, heavy duty timing set, etc.. however I just feel the LT1 block doesn't get any credit, even though if this discussion was happening in 1994 we would all be ripping on the L98 instead of the LT1.. funny how times change ;)

All my info was gotten from LT4.com and what little I remembered off the top of my head from various places... So if you are a little more curious, etc.. Http://www.LT4.com has some great info!

as we all know though, the ls1 in those cars dynos close to, at or higher than the 305.
