Okay. I'm trying to find out what kind of shocks to use on a 2g GST with the H&R Sport Springs (1.7" front and 1.4" rear).

My friend swears by KYB AGX's, but has only ever used them on 1g's. There are things on both Road Race's website and Tire Rack saying that the shock was too long for the front and would not accomodate a lowered spring. I emailed Road Race, and they stated that "The problem has been fixed, we have them in stock". I email KYB directly and asked them. They gave me a different part number than what I had found on most other websites, but they said that going any lower than 1.3" would void my warranty. Is anyone running AGX shocks on a 2g with a lower spring?

Anyhow, I've heard that Tokico's suck. After searching I see alot of people here that love Tokico's, but it seems like most of the people on other forums (supraforums,twinturbo.net) hate those things. They all complain about "squish" noises. I know the Koni's are good, but are a little out of my price range. I'm not sure what to do. I've been researching this for a while and can't seem to figure out what to do.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. :D

the KYB AGX's are actually fixed like everyone said. Do you really need that warranty?

I have KYB GR-2's with my eibach prokits (1.3" drop). They're great. But if you want adj. shocks go either with the AGX's or the Tokico illumina 5-way's. My friend has those.. they're awesome. :D

Yes, the AGX's have been fixed for 2nd gens, but I don't know any one that uses them.
The Tockiko Illumina's are really good. I autocross on them and they work well. I would like to upgrade to the Koni's but out of my price range also. The Koni's are supossed to be a significant upgrade to the Tockiko's too...wish I had the money.

I just put on Eibach Prokits with KYB GR2 up front and AGX 4 way adjustable in the back. I like the look and the ride no problems except for needing camber kits for the front. It dropped 1.5 inches at install. Put on about 1000 miles and it feels great. My sixty foot times are a little quicker. Went from consistant 1.84x to 1.79x-1.81x.

I am using Eibach Pro-kits with AGXs with no problems what so ever. I love the ride quality of my car and would by these shocks again. BTW, I have never heard anyone that was dissatisfied with Tokicos on a DSM.

I agree with Erik in the above post about the Tokico Illuminas...... Most of the DSMers that I know that have the Illuminas love them. I dont know about other vehicle applications, but the Tokico Illuminas are a great suspension product for the 2g cars. If your not at ease with using the AGX's get the Tokico's. I think you will like them.

I have the Eibach Pro-kit, love it. The shocks are Tokico (non-adjustable) in frong - somewhat squishy for my taste, and I am looking for something stiffer. In the rear are the AGX's. Love'em. Now they are ok for the front of my 95GST?? Where is the check book.................................

I had ordered some KYB AGX's for my coil-over setup from advance. I installed the front and back and when I lowered the back it was dumped considerably, but when I lowered the front, it was almost at stock height  . I returned the front and left the rears on. I put my stock struts in place of the fronts for now. A friend of mine just got AGX's for his eclipse throught KYB directly, and it turns out the part # is different then mine was for the front. I would re-order these struts if they fixed the problem but I don't want to take the chance. Anyone have this part number or using this supposably "fixed" AGX?

I had sent an email to KYB about the shocks. Here was their reply:

The correct part number
1995~99
2WD
Front - 741042
Rear - 741019

4WD
Front - 741042
Rear - 741020

The AGX line are stock size, using sport drop springs is to much and will
void the warranty.

Mild drop springs is recommended. For this vehicle 1.3 inches.
For what that is worth. I am about to order the Koni Yellows. Prostreetonline has some decently priced package deals.
