Hey guys. I'm getting ready to do this. I'm going to do it friday morning before school. What problems will I run into? How much time should I set aside to do it? What tools will I need? Thanks a lot. :)

well have u ever ripped off your manifold and turbo and everything? If not set aside alot of time cuz it could be a pain if some bolts are seized up and what not

i put my ported exhaust housing and ported o2 housing on, took me like 6 hours because alot of complications, i would say best time maybe hour and a half to two hours

i dont know if u were gonna try and take the o2 off without taking the turbo and manifold off or not, if you can more power to ya, but i decided to take everything off cuz its just easier

I'm planning on leaving the turbo and manifold on. I'm going to do it while the exhaust piping is still pretty warm so the bolts will be a bit easier to get moving at least in theory.

How hard is it to take off the heat shield on the stock o2 housing and the o2 sensor?

u better wake up like 3:00 am in the morning to do this before u go to school.. it's very easy to do, but it does take time and you dont want to be rushed.. take your time on your projects.. for me.. it took me like 1.5hrs to do mine.. which I took my time and all.. the hardest part for me is the the 4 screw, which is like towards the firewall.. u gonna have to be under the car.. so prepare for that..

I didn't have too much of a prob getting the o2 housing off with everything still on the car. The heatshield is a few 12mm bolts, and wait to take the o2 sensor off till the get the housing off the car, makes it easier. Also remember to put the o2 sensor on the new housing and then bolt the housing back up.

I don't plan on doing most of this standing up, I plan on being under the car. :)

Thanks for the tips. :) I'm going to take my supra ic off some time this morning so I might get started on the heat shield. :)

I got two of the heatshield bolts off. lol. The other 3 (the bottom ones) are givin' me hell. I'm going to try them again tomorrow after I get the supra ic back on so I can have the car warmed up and the bolts warmed up as well. :) If I don't think I can get everything done tomorrow morning, I'll just take my mom's car to school and finish it up later in the day.

that heatshields kinda a pain, once u get the bolts off, it wraps around the backside and makes pulling it off kinda hard, what i did was cut the very back part off so that mine goes on and off really easy

you did spray lots of lube on the bolts right?
did nothing to the bolts. what should I put on 'em? wd40?

off topic: epoxy owns my supra ic. lol. I'm 1/2 done. doing the other 1/2 when I get home from work tonight. putting it back on in the morning.

PB BLASTER!!!

Used half a can the night before I removed the whole turbo assembly (exh mani, turbo, o2 housing) - didn't snap any exh mani studs.

PB Blaster is 2x the $ of Liquid Wrench for a reason. Liquid wrench hardly helps IMO.

By far the best stuff I have found and used is called Aero Kroil, its kinda hard to find, but it works wonders. Its also kinda expensive for what it is at $7.50-8.00 for a small 8 oz. can. But like was said earlier, you get what you pay for and this stuff is tha sh*t! I found it out from a friend who builds racing go karts, and use it for everything now. I have never had anyproblem breaking anything loose after spraying this stuff on, I used it on my turbo install and everything came off as easily as it gets. Oh, and the hardest part of the install is going to be getting your stock O2 housing off, those things can be on there pretty tight.

Yeah I can't take mine off with the turbo on the car. I have to remove the exhaust housing because the last bolt in on the back. There is some sort of pipe that runs right past it and totally blocks access to the bolt.

I'll get some PB Blaster if I can find it. If not, I'll just stick with wd40. I'll end up doing it this weekend or some time next week. I'm fucking tired from work.
