Welp... I was driving to work this morning, about to get on the garden state parkway when I noticed A TON of blue smoke behind the car - thinking it was just a big truck that was driving behind me, I get on the parkway, and notice the smoke is following me.. pull over and sure enough, there's oil all over the top of my transmission / side of block. I checked the oil and noticed a SMALL trace of coolant (which after driving back home, I don't see any more)... My coolant level is almost perfect (if not perfect), but oil is being consumed in mass quantities, and coming from somewhere on the side of the block. My experience with a blown headgasket has always involved mass quantities of coolant (in the oil, or burning through the exhaust), but this is simply oil oil oil... I just want confirmation on my suspiscions before I go buying all the parts for a mini-rebuild.

Thanks,

-Craig

also, what parts are recommended to be replaced while I have the head off... I'm definitely going to do the rings, rod bearings, headgasket, timing belt, eliminate balanceshafts and heli-coil all the fucked up valvecover bolts on the head. Anything I'm missing?

Sorry to hear it man but good luck.

Also unless you own a 6-bolt look into getting new headbolts.

I have had GREAT customer service and AMAZING prices (got my eagle/ross combo for just under $700 from them!!!!):
Flatlander racing:
www.importperformanceparts.net

They are a huge distributor yet they had the time to sit down and help me out with all the parts I needed. Ask for "sol" he is a great guy and if he asks how you got his name tell him Murray refered you.

I think last time I checked they had the ARP head studs for $69 :)

Cool deal... I'm still undecided about putting in another motor (a local kid has a motor with good compression for sale) or rebuilding this one.. I appreciate the help guys, and if I do go with the rebuild, I'll look into that site... thanks again.
