As a data point, I keep the "big" tank around 80 PSI and when it drops below, I take it for a refill, I have been refilling about every two weeks. It cost me $2.19 / gal and it takes about 0.8 gallon to top it up again. I believe the 5# tank is around 1.5 gallon?

The small ones just aren't going to cut it for me unless I have R2D2 in the back swapping bottles :)

There is a post on another message board about why NOT to inject pre-turbo, the gains will not be as good, lets think about it for a minute, although the octane is raised, your turbo is virtually smaller because you're taking up CFM that would have been flowing oxygen, now flowing fuel.

Sure, you can turn up the boost to make up for it, but then a post-turbo injection can also turn up the boost without this side effect.

Why do diesel trucks inject pre-turbo? Maybe because they run 30-40 PSI of boost it will be hard to inject post turbo with enough pressure? They also don't run 12 sec 1/4 mile :) Diesels run so lean they are only concerned with getting more fuel so pre-turbo works just fine for that, we on the other hand, want more high octane fuel, and turn up the boost.

question, why not move regulator and solenoid and needle thing to front with engine, and place it really close to injection point ??? i want to use propane to rich up the mixture when nitrous comes on so i can't affor lag for propane to come on from the rear of car(not even a fraction of second)

any side effects, concerns about moving all that stuf to front and leaving bottle in back ????

p.s. it took a while to read all the post but it was worth it....

BIG PROBLEM with having a rear mounted tank and a Front mounted reg/solenoid. You will have a LIVE pressurized propane line from front to back. If you got into an accident and the line was split the propane tank valve would be open and you would empty the entire contents of the tank causing a serious fire hazard. This is why we run a DEAD line to the front. It is triggered in the rear and never has any more pressure than what the regulator is set for. If you get into an accident the system obviously is not going to be active/open therefor the solenoid by defualt will be closed at the tank avoiding any leakage. This was a major concern and was designed into our system on purpose.

You are right, never really thought about that safety issue. Do you know how regular car that run propane 24/7, like some police cars around here, handle this issue ??? Do they also regulate at the rear ???

cops are running propane???
what would propane do on an NA car? they would definatley need some kind of fuel managment in order to do this...
sorry maybe i was misunderstood... there are police and taxi cabs around here that have a switch inside of car to switch from propane(might be natural gas or maybe thats same thing) and regular fuel... the car actually runs on propane all the time if you are in that mode... and im assuming that they have specific managment system for this... there are few companies around here that do conversions but only on specific vehicles...

They don't run propane supplimentation, they run fully converted propane, at least they do in AZ.

Good question. You can run a 2nd solenoid up front which opens/closes simultaneously with solenoid at tank. This keeps a pressurized line without the risk of losing a whole tank catastrophically. You eliminate injection lag and line purge delay. :)

water injection

I have been running water/alcohol injection for over a year now, and i have no problems and run 20-21psi on the street, i used a data logger to pruve to my friends that it works and it help alot more than i thought it would. my systems is a shurflo 100psi pump, hard plastic line , aquamist check valves and nozzels, i run one at turbo outlet and one at tb elbow. my system kicks in at 10psi, im gonna make it kick in at 16 psi since i hit 10 psi in every gear all day long. I have the pump mounted under the bumper and takes water from the windsheild tank inside the engine bay.

some time i will post pics.

water injection kicks ass. I have the aquamist system. I saw increases initially of like 30hp and timing jumped to about 24degrees with no knock. I have dsmlink and my timing retard light never comes on. Love water injection. 21-22psi on 91 octane,

any of you run it as your primary source of fuel? i mean to hell with gasoline.
How many mpg do you guys get?

I finally got this kit with the Early Warning System. I have nothing but good things to say about it.
Ordered it on Thursday and it was at my house when I got home from the shootout on Saturday.
Install was simple, harnesses were pre-made, took about 1 1/2 hours.
Opened the valve 1 turn, like greenstreak. I left boost at 19#, made a pull and the car sputtered and blew black smoke. So I ended up taking out about 9-10% fuel up top.

At 19# Knock started at about 11 counts and dropped to about 5, EGT's never saw 1550. Timing advance started at 17* and went up to 26*by 6k (had to let off). The car pulled smoother than it ever did. So I figured I would add boost slowly.

At 20.5# knock and egt's stayed the same but timing only rose to 24*.

At 23# Knock was only around 3-5 counts. EGT's were the same.
timing started at 21*, rose to 27* by 6k and was at 24*by 7k

At 24# Knock was less than 5 counts to 6.5k where it rose to 9 until redline. EGT's were under 1550. Timing started at 20* and rose to 24* by 6k and was at 19*by 7k.

These runs were back to back, only about 2 minutes between runs. The 2600 was slipping by the time i was done tuning.
All of these runs were done with sunoco 94 in the tank.
