Just got the car back this weekend from getting a major tuneup and porting done to help with boost creep, thanks to our very own nukefission (thanks Victor). Car is running much better now so I'm definately pleased.

I was leaving a co-workers house when I see this early '90s hatch with some aftermarket front bumper going in the other direction. He quickly makes a u-turn and comes up behind me at a left-turn light. DSM gods must be shining on me finally because I never get any races, but here we go! On green I go slowly and get in the right lane; as expected he jumps in the left lane to show me his Honda power. As he reaches my door I slam down the gas in 2nd. By 85-90 I had around 3 cars on him and hit the hazards, slowing down for traffic. I must say he kept up much better than I thought he would (not many fast Hondas in my area, at least that I know of anyways). So I figured he must have something more than the typical. Said he had a B16 swap ('99 Civic Si right?) with exhaust, intake, cams, and some other stuff. In a light car like that, it was pretty quick, and a nice sleeper because those early '90s hatches are uggggly.

Nice kill, Brian....especially from a roll. Those motors are pretty torque-less to begin with, so a race from a stop would be rather easy to win even with a relatively stock AWD.:)

A buddy of mine has an '87 CRX with that same swap....hauls pretty good due to it being so light (~1700 lbs.) He's eventually putting the 2 liter CR-V bottom end in it, and maybe turbocharging it, depending on funds. Definitely not something for a lightly-modded AWD to mess with;)

Umm someone with some more honda knowledge can help me but I believe it's like this

Del-Sol VTEC = b16a1
99-00 Si = b16a2
03 Si = b16a3

Thanks Jim. Trust me I know about those swapped, turboed hatches. I got absolutely annihilated by one that had a built Type R engine running a t3/t4 turbo... thought he was the typical riceboy honda with exhaust, found out real quick. Said he ran high 11's on slicks.

dsmfan95, the new '03 Si's have the k20 series motors so it wasn't that.

Best part was that the kid was cool. He was real impressed with my car, was like damn that thing is fast! Got all big eyed when I said it was turbo, I guess he was excited that he kept up. If he only knew I'm one of the slower DSMs... ;)

Its like this.

Del Sol = B16A3
99-01 = B16A2
03 SI = not B-series

Yea the 02/03 Si is a k20 motor, the k-series are nice motors and respond very well to mods.

VA DSMs representing... :)

There is a b16a1 that came in the 4th gen (88-91)jdm hatch's and rex's

Correct, but jdm engines dont have a number after the b16a. They dont really refer to them as b16a1. Its either first gen 88-91 or second gen 92-95 which has 10 more ponies.

I'm almost positive he said it was the '99 Civic Si engine. He mentioned that he had dynoed 160-something to the wheels, so with the other mods present I'm guessing that's probably what engine it was.
