Ok, I've had my S-AFC II for about a week now. So here is my review.
The connection was the same as ver. 1 with one more wire to install, knock (purple). The wire diagram book that Apexi gives you has our cars in it. If you look at page 43 and read D32a and D27a that’s DSM body codes for our cars well D32a is GST 95-up and I think D27a is 89 GST-up. It’s on page 46 M3-a, M1-a Plus Apexi gives another booklet on tuning. It only has the EVO in that one. (connection was very easy 1hr-2hrs tops)
I used the same net points and Thr% as EVO VII has on page 20 of the tuning book.
Smaller then ver. 1, has 12 net points ad can be adjusted every 200 RPM, in monitor mode gives you KAR (or what air sensor you pick) Thr, Rev, Knk, Bat, and Cor. Once you’re in the monitor mode by pressing down on the joystick button it switches to the settings for hi-lo settings. Unit also as a new monitor view with cor, thr, knk, rev. The joystick and knob works very well in the menu, settings, and adjusting the cor. Also a direction pops up to show what left, right, down, up is ( Pr, Nx, Tp, Cn ). Has a program ver. that can be viewed too in etc section. Has password lock so that no one can tamper the settings or some of the etc. The unit also has two datafiles that can be saved which is awesome for 93 octane and 114 octane (race gas). The unit also has a new intro in the beginning.
What else.. I like the VFD white has a nice glow, also the joystick and knob has a green surface mount led and gives off a cool glow off the knob. I have 75:1000. I got the unit for 320 shipped. So that not bad. The unit also has knock sensor, but I guess it doesn't work with the 2Gen. I dunno, but I hooked it up to my knock wire and it’s reading something. I also set my knock settings too. Like I said I dunno if it works, but it's reading something.
The unit was small enough so I mounted it right in front of the air vents with enough space still for the air to flow on top. I’ll try to get pics of the unit.
Overall I’m very happy with my new S-AFC II I’m pretty sure if you didn’t want to spend the $50 more then the S-AFC I would work just as well. But then you can’t say that’s the JDM limited ed. S-AFC II. Haha…booyaa
