ok so im cruising around town with one of my friends and i hear this loud ass civic hb and he pulls up next to me in heavy traffic. i mean this car was so loud i rolled up my windows and turned up my music cause it was huting my ears(im not poking fun at the fart muffler im serious it hurt). so theres a little known road for street racing so i go in that direction and he follows we both get there and hes like" so lets run em" i was like ok. so we rev up and he takes the inisitave*(however you spell it) and launches first. i follow and he is in fron of me the whole time. when i hit top of third he has like a car and half on me and then he throws his hazards so we pull ove and i ask him what he has under there. and he says." nuthin much just straight through 3" exhaust, cams, with stock b16" i was like thinkin WTF. i couldnt believe it . i was so ashamed and made my friend swear to secrecy not to tell people we know. i dont know whats going on. and when i was running about 5ps1 i ran high 15's at the track. i dont know why my car is so slow. i know some will say because im a bad driver but im not. sure im not the greatest but that cant account for this big of a loss and such bad times. someone help.i think i have some serious problems or tuning issues that need to be adressed. sorry this got so long. i have a forum with my datalogging results if someone can take a look and help me tune cause im new. heres the link http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89661

dude, B16's aren't THAT slow. They run high 14's usually. And if you let him lauch first then you giving yourself a handicap on top of it. It's no wonder you lost.

civic hatch would/could have a real big weight advantage on you.

was it an older hatch late 80's/early 90's? or what?

92+ hb. also im not trying to sound cocky here but from what ive read about our cars and what my mods are compared to what mods his car hadd my car should have been able to leave that civic at the starting line. i really need to figure out how to tune this car.

Pf, where did you find "heavy" traffic in Napa?

Then what, Big Ranch Road, Oak Knoll, Congress Valley, Buhman, Henry?

Did anybody else catch the 5psi thing? or is that a typo?
Either that or he's got a turbocharged GS. Unless he's built the block he can't run more than 7 or 8 psi without blowing it up in that case.

Tough to tell with the whole GS-T04E thing

ok i dont what you guys are talking about. first i have a gst i did the little gs-t3/t04e thing as like a little tidbit. second i have the stock smic. and like i said before i was running 5psi originally because i had no boost controller and thats what boost it was running.

if he has cams in that b16 he probally shiftin' at 9k. and then with him launchin' first, not much you could do

I dont know much about honda's but usually with at least the 18a motor in the integra's you can"t take them much past 8500 or they start to get valve float. Springs may help you out a little bit, retainters along with the springs, will make it a lot lighter. Usually even the amount of just 7 grams less will let you take it up to 9000 with out any valve float.

With the dsm tuned out it should have won hands down.

There is something wrong with you car. My friend had a 91 gst. With a small 16g @ 18psi. He race a 92 hatch modded b-16 and was pulling car length after car length.

Three basic rules to make sure you aren't slow:

1. General maintenance. If you have a CEL, figure out what it is. If something needs to be fixed, fix it!

2. Tuning. You either have to learn how to do it, or pay somebody to do it. People can't tune your car for you over the internet. Especially if you give them one frame datalogs of your car at idle!

3. No horribly mismatched mods. Case in point, a 50 trim with a stock SMIC. You will heat soak that POS by the end of 1st gear with a turbo that size.
