97 has a Cam mounted CAS, which is inverted frmo the crank mounted CAS that the 95/96's use, if you swap this, you would have to replace your CAS with one mounted on your intake cam, which requires having the cam tapped and buying the CAS and all those nice things.... along with doing that, you would most likely have to switch your plug wires around abit (similiar to what 97-99 TE's have to do when running DSMlink)
however, manual/AT does not matter, A/T is controled by an external TCU (transmission control unit) that is seperate from the ECU....
I got lucky with my car... I put a new engine in (out of a 96, so I had the 95/96 CAS already when I got DSMlink, so all I had to do was patch the wires to the new plug location and I was ready to roll... no plug wire rewires or anything
