I have a friend over at tuners that is running the FLT-A2's on is champagne colored 1g. He has reccommended them highly. I have a custom/prototype Tein Type HA system coming from Japan for my 1G. Should be her by mid next week. I will most definately have pictures up when they came and are installed.

Artic Tsi, I talked to GSX90 and he said they are really good quality. He also said jic makes them for 1g fwds too. Does tein make them for 1g fwds? Thanks for the help.

Tein does not make the type HA trim setup for the 1G's at all. I actually commisioned them thru a friend to have Tein of Japan to create the the setup. So it is what the japanese call a "one off", basically one of akind prototype. Just got a call a couple of nights ago that it was put in the mail. :D

I heard a rumor that Tein was about to release a suspension line for the 1gs. I havent looked for it, but that is the rumor ive heard
Guess who funded that endeavor........ thats why mine says prototype. helps to have friends on the inside track also.

Yes on some web sites it appears that tein is making a 1g setup. It only says for awds though from what I saw. Btw, Arctic you car is one of the best looking 1gs i have ever seen. White 1gs are nice as is mine.

Yup, that is correct. However, what is being devoloped is their super street damper. They will be able to produce this street coilover setup as a result of the R&D done fabricating my setup. here is the link to their site indicating the SS-P system for the eclipse(AWD) D27A 89-94 in under development.

My setup will be Tein Type HA which is one grade below the N1 competitions. Unfortunately, I do not believe they will release the 1G Type HA to the general public. But at least the street setup is being made as a result of all this.

Forgot to say thanks for the compliments. I am real happy with the positive response she has received here in america.

I don't get it though. Why don't they make it for 1g fwds? I guess I will either get the jics or the g/c agx combo.
I really dont know that one. Other than the 1g AWD requiring harder spring rates I am not familiar enough with the FWD 1G's to answer your question. Any takers on this one. Are the mounts on the rear different or something?

The 1G FWDs utilize non-indendent 3-link twist beam in the rear while the 1G AWDs have a rear independent setup with upper/lower control arms, trailing arms, toe-control link, etc. So, yes, the 1G FWD has a totally different rear suspension setup.

My thinking is that there is more demand for the AWD setup, hence no 1G FWD kit (at least yet). When you take R&D costs into consideration, this makes sense...

Yea, I know all that about the suspension. I guess the jics will be fine then. Just the rear struts are different and of course the suspension configuration.

It is now nearing the end of 2003. Still no Tein coilover for the 1G for mass consumption. Their site has been saying coming soon for the longest time.

It looks like coilover choices for the 1G is slim pickin's. Most poeple run GC's. My friend, who has a 2G GST running GC's w/Konis and he said he wouldn't do it again. Ride's good but he said the quality wasn't up to par with price. I had to design two custom perches and have them CNCs to get the rears to work right. GC also told him he doesn't need tender springs but without the tenders the springs keep poping out of their perches. Make a loud noise when they seat back down too.

I just read a reposted response from RRE saying the JICs are for hardcore track use. So it sounds like the ride is too punishing for daily use.

This all lead me to wonder about the Intrax ARS... and Truechoice's custom threaded Konis.

Yeah, I've heard about the RRE KYB AGX hybrids. My friend had those shocks in his 2G and I've ridden in it with those shocks. Pure garbage. Maybe it was because of the heavier weight of the 2G, but I was not impressed with the pogo stick ride.

The rear end doesn't need tender springs. It needs helper springs. Big difference. I have had the GC/Koni on 3 different 2G Eclipses so far. I had my first one rigged. Then I bought helper springs for the rear. Got the middle perch to go between the 2 from GC. Bought the helper springs from hypercoils. Wasn't too expensive. Totally fixed any problems I had. No more popping, or unseating of the springs.

That being said, I would do it again. Not too sure on the 1G, however. Can't imagine it being much different as far as results go.

The JICs use a standard 2 1/2" diameter spring, I believe. The spring rates can be changed easily by swapping springs. By reading RREs page, it sounds like they will work with you as far as spring rates go. Plenty of people run them on the street.
