Why is it people don't consider the SRT-4 a Neon. After all it is a Neon, has a Neon body and uses the same FWD platform. The Evolution has less in common with the Lancer since its AWD and share only the shell. Just like the WRX is the same as a Impreza since they share the same AWD platform, shell and damn near everything else.

Yeah if you wanna be all 'technical' about it, but a Neon has as much in common with the SRT-4 as a V6 Camaro has with an LS1. C'mon one is built to be an economy car, the other a performance sports car.

The same can be said about an evo. I think you guys may be a tad dun dun dun jealous? Have you sat in the seats in an srt-4? They are some of the most comfortable race seats I have ever sat in in my life.

It is a good little car, and dodge has done an EXCELLENT job IMO in making the prissy girly neon look like a mean machine. I think they barely look the same at all, except for the same general body curves.

I agree the seats are really nice. The inside is too much like a neon imo though. The fact it doesnt have power windows in the back sucks. But the car is still awsome for the price and the one i drove felt fast to me and you can see in my mods i dont have a 15 sec mr2 turbo. :p LAter guys

I sat in an srt-4 a while back and actually thought it was a very nice car. The only thing that REALLY got to me was the back of the car. The rear looks too tall like it has a lift kit under the rear wheels. It seems strangly out of proportion to the front of the car which low and fairly badass. I think I might want one of the rear didn't scream prissy eco car (even if its not).

*Oh and the no muffler, duel exhaust->VERY sweet.

Wow! What a thread. I dont know where to begin. First off at the end of the day I pull a SRT-4 in my driveway not a neon. Sounds stupid but you know what. If I owned an Evo I wouldn't say I own a LANCER. If the car doesn't feel fast that doesn't mean shit. The SRT actually has torque way down low so there is no hit. The hit is what makes you feel like you are going somewhere. There are many DSM in my circle of friends and they have the utmost respect for what the skittle can do. My buddy Dom(ijustwant12's) will attest to this. Do another search on srtforums and you will find my dyno plots. 260 hp & 325 tq with nothing done but a homemade intake and 20 lbs of boost. The only reason hp fell off was because boost wouldn't hold til redline. This car will easily put 300 hp @ the wheels if it will sustain boost til redline. Also there are cars running 106-108 trap speeds with nothing done but boost control.

Impressive. Most impressive.

I think some people might think an SRT4 is slow because of what someone else mentioned - the torque isn't all at once (it's smacking you in the face the second you're off idle actually lol). A local said that the power came on very smooth like so it doesn't feel that fast. Same thing with my car vs. my friend's 92 TSi AWD. We have a few different mods and his car is nothing...nothing...BANG!!! Feels much faster but we've raced and mine is actually quicker. I've found the only real way to have an idea of how fast a car is is to just watch the speedo rise :D.

i took down 1 SRT before i put my talon on the boat... i was impressed with the way it ran though. the guy took me for a ride a few days later nice but it does seem to fall off a lil before 6k rpms

then yesterday the SRT raced a WRX..... lets just put it this way... awd is lovely........

well i have been driving dsms for 5years now and I just sold my low 13sec dsm and got a srt-4. Heres my take, it is much faster then a stock or near stock dsm.

So far i have beaten a wrx from a stop, pulled a 1g dsm w/ intake/b.c/ catback exhaust hard from a roll, and today I dont know if this guy posts hear but i beat a white 2g gst from a roll and he had at least exhaust, bov, and a greddy fmic. I pulled that gst pretty good I would say, if you post here let me know.

Basically its lighter and these cars put down about 219hp or so to the wheels so do the math. Now i love dsms but im really really enjoying this srt-4 (although i miss awd)

In response to the post that started this mess, I can believe him beating an SRT-4. So good kill. As for the rest of the posts, who cares if it looks like a neon and has some of the same parts. You have to admit it's a pretty cool car for right around $20K and it's built with the same ideas in mind that the people who made our DSMs had. Gotta respect a fast car, no matter how it looks, and I actually think Dodge did a pretty damn good job making it look more aggressive than a neon.

I agree. For $20k new, it is probably the best "bang for the buck" car out there. My 1990 FWD cost its original owner just over $19k after he added various options to the car, and that was 13 years ago.

I believe him being able to take an SRT4. I raced my first one last night and kept up dead even. we punched it from 5-10 mph to about 90 mph and neither of us could lose the other. then we slwoed down and did it again, and the same things happend. just fyi, i have a ported 14b and all the stock supporting mods ;) and trap about 100 mph on pump gas and kept up fine.

I watched a srt-4 run consistant 16-16.3 times. Driver has a lot to do with it. Still had the temp registration sticker on it. I was half tempted to ask the guy if I could run his car just to see some better times for the car's sake.

LOL. He must have been short-shifting that thing at 4k or something :D .

I'd hope a SRT-4 is faster than a DSM stock. about the same weight, bigger turbo, .4 more Liters, and a FMIC. It'd better be faster. I doubt it'd be faster than a DSM w/ 2.4L stroker 16G and a FMIC however
