I was at one of the local car spots last night, hanging out with my friend (70 Camaro, 383 Stroker), and of course I had my car. Up pulls this 64 Nova (I know of this guy from a LI Street Racing Message Board: http://autostream.com/cgi-local/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro). Tubbed out, 33" slicks, roll cage, the works. We got to talking, but I didnt race him. But his friend and I were talking about my car. As we all know, my car isnt fast, but it will smoke a stock Stang. So, he asked if I beat Mustangs, and I told him yes. He said, if you wait around a little while, a friend of mine is coming up here with a stock 5.0. So I did. His friend pulled up in a 90 5.0, along with a bunch of other Mustangs. We talked, and decided we'd race for $10, cause thats all my broke ass had.
So, I asked if his car was stock, he said yes. I looked it over, it looked basically stock. It had an exhaust, but what 5.0 doesnt? He also had some type of drag radial. But thats all I could see. Stupid me, I didnt look under the hood. So, we went to a nice 1/4 mile strip, complete with a stop light. Se lined up at the light, but we had no flagger and there were cars waiting behind us at the light. So we went. He pulled ahead, and I thought I messed up, so we turned around. We lined up again, this time with a flagger. I power braked to my excrutiatingly low 4psi, and he raised his arms. and then he dropped them. I got off first, my nose about 1 foot ahead of his. I hit full boost, and he moved up and pulled even. Around 40mph, he pulled ahead slightly, then, at his 3rd gera shift, he just rocketed wayyyy ahead of me, at least 4 cars. I just stopped trying by 75, he was sooo far ahead. So, we went back, and I gave him his money. And I said, theres no way that thing is stock. He said, well, maybe just exhaust, and maybe gears, and maybe some other stuff, with a big grin on his face. he wouldnt say what though, he does a lot of street racing for money. But it was still cool, I got a lot of respect for even running (read that thread here: http://www.autostream.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000024.html ) beacuse I was by myself (my friend had left) with about 12 guys with worked (really worked) Mustangs and even 1 blown 69 Camaro. It was cool though.
Whew, that was long!
