I'm looking for a quick, but accurate way to connect the sending unit to my fuel system. I will not drill and tap the banjo bolt or the fuel rail.
I read while searching that you can somehow t-tap the return line after the fuel rail. Can someone give me a clue as to how to do this one? This method makes the most sense for monitoring.
My FPR is stock, but I have a 190 lph pump. Please give me your techniques.

Actually, running the gauge off the fuel return line doesn't make any sense at all. The gauge (or its sending unit) must be installed between the fuel filter and the FPR (otherwise you'll be uselessly monitoring anything but the fuel pressure in the rail) - which doesn't leave you with too many options.
 
This is what I did. I have a Greddy Electronic Fuel pressure gauge, and I use a B&M tap that is make to fit over the fuel filter. RRE sells them. 1/8 ntp. I'm almost possitive that what it is. It work great. Just make sure you use a lot of tef tape.
 
i couldnt find the tap on their sight...where is it?

If you truly want the cheap way buy a digital oil pressure guage and splice the sending unit in the hose to the fuel rail with some fittings. Mine has been working fine for three years and having a safe fuel pressure gauge in the car is a big plus.

I think that that is what he really meant.

Just cut the hose between the fuel filter and the fuel rail inlet.

Clamp in a tee that has a port for a sending unit that fits your gauge's unit. It'll probably be either 1/4 or 1/8 NPT. Then on the straight thru sides of the tee, you want to use two barbed fittings to get a decent connection for the fuel lines to reconnect onto.

You can get a tee and the barbed fitings at "Home Depot Racing."

He's talking about the B&M fuel pressure gauge kit... it comes with a banjo bolt to replace the top banjo bolt on the fuel filter, and a 1/8 NPT mechanical fuel pressure gauge. The B&M banjo bolt has a 1/8 NPT hole machined into the head to thread the gauge in.

A lot of guys are using that banjo bolt to install a 1/8 NPT gauge sender for an electronic fuel pressure gauge inside the car.

I still stand by the old method of drilling and tapping the stock banjo bolt. It's a little time-consuming to get it just right, but it works. I've had my FP gauge sender installed that way for 3+ years now... no issues at all.

Off of which side do you set the base fuel pressure??

Pre-fuel rail or post fuel rail??

Meaning, obviously there is going to be a difference in fuel pressure that the in cabin gauge vs the one on the FPR... so which one do you set the base FP to??
 
Fuel pressure is the pressure of the fuel in the rail and/or supply line (the line between the pump and the fuel rail, where the fuel filter is).

Measuring fuel pressure in the return line would be like measuring oil pressure in the turbo oil drain tube. What's the point? It's a drain tube. The fuel return line is just a drain tube back to the tank.
