I picked up my first dsm last night. it's a 91 tsi AT, FWD and I am pretty sure it's tsi91at's old car. it's my very first AT car. My question is that the car seems to idle a little low when in gear. in P it is around 750 and in gear around 600. I am pretty sure the solid motor mounts exagerate the affect (with the vibrating) but it seems like it might stall any second, is this normal? again this could just be the feeling with the mounts but how do those engine speeds sound to you guys?

On both of my talons they seem to do the same thing, drop in revs (just slightly) when i put it in gear. Unless all three of our cars are messed up, its normal to me.

Have you tried messing with the idle screw? Maybe try raising the engine RPM to around 850... that is where I run at, but I am preaty sure that it should drop a little when it goes into gear...not feel like it is going to stall though.

Those engine sppeds sound tight to me. The solid mounts seem to be making it feel like it's going to stall, but don't worry about it. You could also raise the idle speed a little like 92talonturbo said.

thanks guys, I knew the mounts were exaggerating the effect, but wanteed to check. I may raise the idle slightly.....
