Yes.

Unhook o2 sensor electrical, remove o2 sensor from o2 housing, unbolt downpipe from o2 housing, unbolt o2 housing from turbo.

"Installation is the reverse of removal."

Moved to the Newbies forum.

Yes you can. There's one bolt that's a real pain, but other than that it's easy.
Just remember to unhook the negative terminal on the battery or else you're risking trouble with the alternator right there. Yes, I've seen it happen twice.

I second disconnecting the battery. I've dropped wrenches onto the alternator 2 times in the past few years, and had to buy 2 new alternators. The rear O2 housing bolts are difficult to remove when the turbo is on, but a long wrench and patience helps.

I hate that bolt........it sucks at life. ;)
I've finally gotten that guy figured out. I just got done pulling the stock o2 housing for the last time (Victory o2 w/ external dump)and did pretty well. The trick for it is to put a deep socket 14mm on the bolt, then put the socket wrench on that. I was able to get it off with some force, but if it's been a while for you, use a metal pole as a breaker bar. It took me 45 minutes form start to finish to pull everything by myself, including the fan, both heat shields, and the stock internal gate. That bolt alone has taken hours before:realmad:

At the same time I found it easier to drop turbine and o2 as one. I seems to save me alot of time. Plus that nasty bolt is real easy to get to on a bench.
Yeah, if you can't get it with the turbine housing connected, by all means pull that sucker. It's just extra time though: the 4 bolts which like to strip, the clamp, and when it's all off, you don't have the support to crack those stubborn SOB's lose.

If one way doesn't work, try the other.

Yeah, but dropping the turbine housing involves removing almost the whole turbo assembly which kind of defeats the purpose. Either way it's a PITA job on most DSM's. There's always one bolt that breaks, or gets stuck and sucks up a ton of time.
