Guys--went to the strip yesterday for a rental......

It was a not great day for me as far as driving goes, missed some shifts and had trouble dialing in the launch as the track conditions were pretty lame. I made multiple passes in the 12.1-12.3 range around 111-112 MPH.

I came so close to 11's I can't believe it. I thought my previous best of 12.02 was damn close. Well, I made two 12.0 passes by the end of the day. One was a 12.050@113...not bad. And the new personal best is:

12.009@113.3

Can I get any closer?

I made a few passes with traps in the 113 range and beat my previous best MPH of 113.17 with the 113.3.

I do have at least two exhaust leaks in the manifold/turbo area that are causing me problems holding boost. I mad the above passes at an average boost level of 19psi.

So, will I go back to the strip on the 14b....? I may try to fix the leaks and work with the suspension some and make some passes early next Spring......but, If I keep the car I really want some more power, so I have to upgrade the turbo, even if I only step to a 16G....I think that would be cool...........Chris Tichy's record of 11.58@116.9.....................hhhhmmmmm!

Later guys,

info...

On the 12.00 run I ran 1.71 60' and 7.68@90 in the 1/8. My best 60' was 1.67 that day.........what else would you like to know....

Damn! :( Although it must be frustrating, running 12.009@113.3 on the stock turbo is an amazing achievement many people don't accomplish even with 20Gs and Greens.
Having the manifold and turbo housing mating surfaces planed would most likely take care of the leaks. If I were so close to 11's, I wouldn't sell the car or switch to a bigger turbo 'til I get there. Come on, you don't want to give up now, do you? All you need is a few more passes and a bit more luck... ;)

i was wondering what air pressure u ran in your tires for the good 0 to 60 times? i didnt realixe it but i had 43 psis in all 4 tires last time i ran a 1.86.

Congrats Phil, I think you should definitely try again for the 11's.

btrux, tire pressure depends on the track, I ran 35/37 which is a bit more than recommended and still cut consistant 1.6x's. My times were good because the track was prepped so well. You just need to play with it at the track your at to get an idea of what to use.

Guys...

.thanks very much...I will keep the car and go for it again on the 14b......I'll do it.........I will probably run the small 16G next and then on to something bigger.....I may as well stick with my gradual approach, rather than jumping up to something crazy so quick. A buddy of mine just bolted on an FP red.......in shakedown passes with no launch...2.0 60's, and no quick shifts, the car went 11.72@131...........that definitely sparks my interest in keeping the car and going bigger at some point......so, I'll do it up.....I may go right up the line....small 16, big 16, maybe even a 20g.....and then the FINAL turbo.:D

Thanks again guys......Martin at Taboo....thanks for the props....video should be coming soon.......
