I dont know if I should sell my DVD player with my car or keep it and put it into the 1G I am going to buy. So if anyone has an indash motorized DVD player w/ screen, can you please post a picture so I can see what it looks like installed? Thank you!

unfortunately, i don't think you'll find any. it would look great in there because there's plenty of room for it, but the only reason i say you probably won't find many pics, if any, is because
1)i doubt most 1 gen owners would spend 1500+ on a head unit that is worth as much as the car itself.
2)most 1g owners don't do big stereo installs simply because of the reason above. there's systems, but most large system's youll see will be in 2nd gens simply because of the appearance alone.
3)most 1g owners would rather spend the 1500 on go fast parts rather than a head unit. 1500 bucks will easily take a second and a half off the 1/4 mile :)

i'm sure at least SOMEONE out there has one, but you'll be hard pressed for pics :(

good luck :)

Thank you HARTS!

I still havnt decided if I am keeping it or not, like someone said above, i'd rather have the money for go fast parts and get a cheaper head unit.

Cheaper than a DVD deck, more original too. Unfortunately you can't but this anywhere but you could probably do it yourself as I did. The monitor rises out of the dash from behind the AFC and gauges. The monitor was a raw TFT LCD you should be able to buy something like this for a reasonable price.

I am hoping it is a speaker and not one of those cheesy air vents they sell at autozone.
the holes look too small for an air vent. and why would you put a speaker in the center next to an afc? also what are those switches for on the carbon fiber strip between the center and guage cluster

My guess is that it's a center channel speaker. Ever messed with dolby prologic / dolby digital / DTS / any kind of home theater audio?

a raw tft screen? it looks sweet....
but what do you mean?
like a screen taken out of a laptop?
how were you able to hook it up to receive a signal?

theres a place nearby (up here in canada eh!) that is selling laptop screens for 20 bucks!!!

you guys will probable kick my ass when I tell you what is going on with my dash... Everything other than the obvious(deck gauges, etc...) cost me about $40!!!
From what I hear you cannot use a laptop screen for display you would need to get a separate video driver that is $$$.
The monitor I used is a medical monitor made by Marshall USA(yes the same guys who make guitar amps etc..)
The TFT LCD screen was a raw screen, I trimmed it up with a aluminum picture frame from Wal-Mart $2.87. Then I mounted it up on the motorized tracks (also homemade) $1.00 It rises out of dash.
The switches.... there are many swithces....
In the carbon strip to the left of the AFC are... top one is for the main power for the LCD screen, entertainment system and motor for rising screen.
Will allow operation of entertainment system in the acc position.

Second switch is main power for Eq, and other sound processing stuff only operated on the on position because of battery draw.

The blue thing is an AFC, the deck is a JVC 909, with RCA input.
The cluster of LEDs in A/C positon is a torn apart and redone Proform shift light.

There is a small switch near change holder that you can't really see that controls the monitor up or down position DPDT.

The red button on shifter is a momentary switch for intercooler sprayer, there is also another matching button not in the pic that sits in the empty button position (headlight up/down) it is a OBD code reader when I press the button it will tell me trouble code through a series of beeps.

The thing beside my AFC.... I will let you guys think what you want to think I can't give aways all my secrets....

I know this is old but why not just get a7" lcd tft display and mount it on a arm off the side of the center console where your heater controls are and the vents. Was thinking about going this route since it is cheap and easy and using a fm modulator to get the sound through my deck when I am playing video games or watching a flick.

ill vouch for fwd, its 1 sick ass setup, seen pics on interior forum before.

damn that is pretty sweet, I like the led keyboard. Is it mounted there or did you just set it there for the picture?? How did you mount the lcd screen on the dash where you have it?? Using a pedestal mount?

The monitor rises out from behind the AFC, the keyboard is permanetly mounted there...

The walpaper (kinda hard to see)I'm using is carbon fiber it matches the interior nicely

does it rise up on it's own or is it manual??? Did you have to cut up the dash for the slit for the monitor to be stored in while away?
