How do you tell a 4g63 n/t engine from a 420a? I am looking for a block from a 4g63 n/t. I found one in a junkyard that came from a galant that looks pretty much the same to my walking tsi ... had DOHC 2000 on the valve cover. Everything was same besides no turbo setup. Did galants ever come with a 4g63 engine? I've never seen a 420a engine before so how do they contrast in physical appearance with a 4g63? Any info will help b4 i make this purchase. Thanks

U.S. Galant VR-4s have turbo 4G63s. You can tell because it'll have a turbo hanging off the front. If it doesn't, it's possibly from a Galant GSX (rare awd n/t Galant) or it's a n/t from Japan. I'm really tired, so if some of that is wrong, someone correct me.

Look for 4G63 stamped on the front of the block.

The front of the 4g63 is on the driver's side of the car and the front of the 420a is on the passenger side. Also, 420a's have a black valve cover w/ silver writing and 4g63's valve cover's are usually silverish with red writing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is all right.
