I'm looking for the easiest and cheapest way to achieve the 300hp mark. I already have all the free mods, a ported 2g exh manifold, ported 2g TBE and a 2.5" cat back. This winter I'm looking to get some head work done to it, port and polish on int and exh sides, intake ported and a 3 angle valve job w/ new valve seals. (Not sure if it will happen though) :-/. Anyways, I'm looking for the fastest way to 300hp without using N20. There was a thread on here about getting a fuel pump, N1 downpipe, and HKS FCD ( what is that by the way). Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

if you do the head work to the car i can rest assure you that it will help alot. If i where looking to make an easy 300hp i would take care of all the basic mods, full 3in exhaust, apexi afc, walbro 255 pump, 2g mas, big 16g ported and clipped, fmic or supra sidemount, 550cc or bigger injectors, fuel pressure regulator, act2600 and flywheel combo. tune it and im sure the car will make an easy 300hp on pump. If you wnated to get a little more wild and maybe spend some extra cash i would say a set of cams would be nice also but thats just my opinion.

or i would suggest checking this out too.. http://www.buschurracing.com/upgrade.html

I remember that thread. It was from a magazine article in "Import T00ner" and was obviously bullshit. Do NOT get the HKS FCD as it will fuck up your car. Fuel cut is there for a reason. Do you see anybody even half-fast using it on these forums or through any of the respected DSM shops? No. Stick with the free mods and first mods that are listed on the "We've seen these before" section and then build from there.

Avoid that name brand BS. Most of the small DSM specific vendors sell much more effecient components for our cars because it's their business to be the best. Are we talking 300 wheel HP or flywheel? A well tuned 14B can make 300 flywheel. A small 16G can make it at the wheels. Both will require tuning and time. You dont' "easily" make big HP numbers in most cases.

just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has helped and I have made my course of hp add ons. I already have the clutch and flywheel taken care of, next i'm going with the MBC and gauges, then cold air, N1 downpipe, I/C pipes and BOV (may just stay with the stock BOV), 255 fuel pump, 550 injectors, headwork and eventually cams, and further on down the line 16-20g turbo and intercooler upgrade. Before I get to serious though I'm looking into a pocketlogger and reprogammed ecu. Let me know what you guys think. Should anything be switched around or do I have them in good order? Oh yeah, the turbo, o2 sensor housing and throttle body will also be ported this winter.
Thanks again

yea, 300 crank power isn't that hard on a 14B. intake, exhaust boost control, UIP, rewire fuel pump, clutch and lightened flywheel and you'll have 300 at the crank. I don't think I forgot anything.. oh and free mods of course.

this is on a 1g? skip the head work, unless u need new stem seals. 300hp is very easily accomplished, and theyre is absolutely no need to waste your money on head work to see a 10% increase in flow. Your money will be MUCH better spent elswhere!

I agree with anconover. I didn't realize you had a 1G. The head flows very well from the factory, and will do just fine as is. Gasket matching the ports with a dremel or die grinder won't hurt though. If you're pressed for money, just skip the machine shop porting and have at it with a handtool.

naw, just leave your head alone till you make 500+ hp.

I think it is possible to hit a high 12 with a 14b with the proper supporting mods in a fwd car, cause that is what I am gonna try to do before I buy my evobig16g. Want to get the tuning down on the stock turbo and then be able to throw on the new one and have the whole car prepared to handle it. THe Whole package as I like to call it. Getting my datalogger cable this week. :) Can't wait to actually see this stuff work. Will be great for tuning.

It's definately possible. evil_eagle did it with his FWD, though last I heard he's running a very large T3/T4 now. Speaking of evil_eagle, has anyone seen him lately? He just dissapeared after he got the T3/T4.

Are you looking for wheel hp or crank hp? I know it was asked but I didnt see it get answered. 300 crank hp is as easy as a fuel pump, boost control, and a turbo back exhaust(basically). putting 300 to the ground means adding another 80-100 hp to the crank, which then becomes a lot more difficult.

It's more difficult for AWD. There's a good bit less drivetrain loss for us FWD's.
Eventually head work, and a Magnus manifold with some good cams can add unbelievable power, but at your point it's not really going to be used to it's fullest potential. You need a large turbo to start to push the stock 1G head's flow limits.

I just want to run a high 12 to low 13 1/4. I just had a new tranny and clutch installed ( a big hassle, the guys employees were a bunch of f*@^ers ). I'm planning on a MBC, fuel pump, and Apex'i N1 downpipe to begin with, I already have from the cat back. I also have a few mods to the car as is. All free mods, ported 2g exh mani, ported 2g TBE, and after i pull the car in for winter it will have the turbo, o2 housing, and TB ported. Has anyone ever visited www.straightlinespecialties.com and seen their cold air and uip? Are these items as good as any other on the market?
