Taillight to gasdoor mod????

i want to mae my taillight open like a gas door on my gsx:

does ayone have any links or information on this mod?

on my first 3g i did something similar-i had two elbow rods held my tail light and when you pushed on the tail light it unlocked and you could open it up to fill the gas tank and pushed it shut to lock-i'll look for some pictures but its not really that hard to do it your self

That'd be kind of cool IMO, granted you don't use rice lights. I searched google for custom taillights but... all i got as results were rice lights

yeah i just ordered the the european spec lights with the amber corners (www.machv.com) and a carbon center piece(www.carbonwerks.com)

Hmm yeah that seems like it'd be kind of cool, seen a few pics of cars like that, I don't think its something I'd ever do, but its kind of neat. Doesn't seem all that hard to get done either. Where abouts are the pics of the lights you just ordered?

and the euro lights. . . there are far better things to do for $500, wow that's expensive!

Just for the hell of it..............Why would you want your taillights swinging open and shut? Is there some good reason for it or is it just something to do? Just wondering.

"wow" factor i guess... and yes i did spend $500 on the taillights. true, their are things better to buy with $500, but something that makes your eclipse standout is a good thing, unless you go wth the " sleeper" theme

I really doubt anyone will notice that the outside corners of your tail lights are orange instead of red, except for DSMers that know about them. But hey, whatever.

yea theyre better than stock, u increased performance with those puppies...

no matter how u defend urself, waste of money. i wish i had 500$ to blow on plastic taillights that do absolutely nothing, and in my opinion, they wouldnt catch my eye if i saw u pass or if i was lookin at ur car.

yeah itll be pretty showy, even though its gonna kick ass at the track too, im plannin on it being a low to mid 11's car. at least im not puttin pep boys sh!t on my car. i dont wanna be known as the ricer around here. im only putting the highest quality parts on my ride, cmon now guys, volk... the highest amoung japanese tuners, even tho their is no way to jdm the damn thing lol. who cares, i know the formula for a fast DSM, big turbo, big injecotrs, magic electronic box

Nobody happens to know about any additional info on the original question would they? Not to be a pain in the ass, but the discussion isn't about taillight alternatives. Sorry but I'm just really interested in the gas tank mod and what's involved in it.

That's the ONLY car I've seen with a taillight like that, so I'm assuming it's completely custom done. You could probably email carbonwerks and ask them how it was done, otherwise get out the old pencil and paper and start designing a way to do it yourself.

Get off his back about buying the tail lights, he wanted to buy them, it's his car, so don't have a spaz about it. Geez.

FYI: Those tail lights are so badass...if I could afford them I would buy them in a heart beat.
