Alrighty... I'm looking for 17" wheels to replace my stockers. I have a 97 TSi AWD and all the places I call say that I need to get a three piece rim to fit the brakes. Does anybody have a definitive answer of what I need to get as far as minimum size? Thanks.

Most any 17" rim should fit your car without any problems. Sounds like whoever you are calling is feeding you a load of bullshit. You can fit 17" rims over the AEM big brake upgrade, so your stock brakes will be no prob. You can tell the tire guys telling you that you need to buy 3-piece rims to call me, I will let them know what's up. Go to Discount tire Direct or the Tire Rack, both online, and use the fitment guide.

Why would a company knowlingly refuse a potential $1000 order? What is the actual size of the stock wheel and what are the max/min dimensions that I can use. I'm riding on my doughnut now and I'd like to get these wheels ordered ASAP.

go to the vfaq, i think there is a link on there about wheel sizes and offsets and all that junk, i run rota subzeros that are 17's, fits just fine.....although if i knew how small they were i woulda got 18's instead, also try machiii.net, good prices and customer service.

you can put 16x6.5 +46mm offset over the stock 2G AWD brakes. With 17" wheels the question is are they too wide for the offset, and unless your trying to get 17x9s or wider, almost everything will fit.

does anyone know by any chance what is the widest you can go with a 17 inch and a 18 inch rim...... lets say the suspension has eibach springs, tokico shocks, and is awd if that matters (2g awd)

btw

will the rims stick outside the car...like those idiots who put spacers on their car for the purpose of making them stick out 3 feet from the car.......i also kind of wanted some of the rims the audi a4 and s4 guys have with the nice deep dish effect.....i don't think front wheel drive cars can have that deep dish rim but can awd cars
