I have a friend with a new celica who did this, and it's awesome. I am doing it this weekend. Take some Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red spray paint and paint over the yellow in our tail lights. This is cheap and I think it''ll make guys to not do a rear conversion. Eclipse's will be doing Talon conversions! Here's his website on how to do it. Like I said I'll be doing this Saturday. On sunday ill have some pics to keep you posted. The turn signals look red too, not orange or yellow. This might be the next free mod on dsm.org

here's my friends site you can check out

I don't know if he's a starwars fan or not. . . after seeing episode 2 i think he maybe but im pretty sure it's just a coincedence. Yeah, none of those pics worked and there was nothing on his website that i could find, so ill do it tomorrow and post some pics too.

I used stain glass spray from micheal's like in the thread awd terror posted. Mine came out darker than stock. they look tinted at night. The testors stuff your friend used looks way lighter. I think i'll give that a try. I wasn't really satified with the way mine came out. They look fine, just not perfect.

this is the same method i used about a in the summer of 2002

Holy old thread Batman!!!!
yea someone put a link in another one, didn't even notice :D

I did that mod on my old talon and it took away the shiny brightness the tailights origionally had. Granted it did look really good and original, it all depends on the look you want. I even tried lots of small layers of clear coat and couldnt get that smooth result i wanted. When you do it, replacing the tailight bulbs with red colored bulbs also made a nice difference because the bulbs in there now are white.

close up, looks more like they really do.

Sweet interior.....;)

I like the all red look, but I've seen some people paint it and it almost looks pinkish, and ugly. Your looks good!

Here are my old lights. I went back to stock since because i somehow keep getting sets of talon lights for free without trying. Everytime i buy something used someone throws them in for free.

i know exactly what youre saying and i harrassed the hell outta the guy who had the nicest lights i could find until he told me what he used. i honestly love them. i think the talon rear would be so much more appealing to others if the lights were all red.

My mind always makes me see the turn signals as amber on talons, just because I'm so used to seeing it as amber over the years. Still a nice mod for talons though.

so if you painted the tailights you would still have amber bulbs under red plastic? how hard is it to remove the tailights anyways, i've never tried it before yet. i painted my headlights housing but had to remove the front fascia along with the actual bumper (not the cover).

The tails come out much easier than the headlights. You only have to unsnap them after removing the interior trim in the trunk.

Yes, the bulbs are still amber behind the red tails.
You mean those two panels on both sides that have little switches holding them in place?
