Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting to a dyno soon since I'm pretty much done with go-fast-straight mods. Alright.. here are the questions:

1. What are the effects of doing the dyno in 3rd vs. 4th gear? I know you want the gear ratios to be as close to 1:1 as possible, but if I don't do any 4th gear runs (I only ride out 3rd and barely any 4th) would it be worth it? Would the hp be higher in 3rd or 4th?

2. If I get to use wideband, what should I aim to get using pump gas? How about with race gas?

3. What dynos are usually more accurate? I know there are different ones. Which show higher #'s? How about lower?

That's all I can think of right now. If you guys think of anything more, just add it. Thanks in advance. :D

1) Id use 4th just because its a HAIR closer to 1:1 than 3rd (.888 as opposed to 1.217) but really either is probably fine.

2) Aim for the A/F right before you knock :) its gonna be a little different for every car. 11:1 is probably a good jumping off point.

3) no clue :D

when i went with a freind to dyno his car they just used 3rd gear. I do know that some dynos are a certian percentage off like the mustang dyno i think is a bit sketchey. I wish i knew more about dyno tunning/dynos to help you out but i have no experience with them. I would also ask the people that are putting your car on the dyno if they could "T" in an extra boost gauge so you can watch outside the car just in case.

I have read that the mustang dynos simulate load conditions and more accurately reproduce real world conditions and results. You're numbers will be lower than that of a dynojet but are supposed to more realistically produce results.

ahhh ok i see.......that expalines why he was about 10-12hp off of what he should have been.
