Well almost everything stock, has the following mods:

Hallman boost controller, AEM plug & play (mild tune), Excedy clutch (that was slipping), K&N drop in filter (stock air box), full HKS exhaust, race gas and thats it. Tym ran it a few times at the track during the EVO Subaru shootout and it ran 11.8's consistantly and he stopped due to clutch slippage. EVERYTHING else is stock and full wieght. Funny thing is that its his wifes daily driver. With such few mods it makes me want to get one for the fun of it.

Good time but I hardly consider that "near" stock. Full Exhaust and a AEM Standalone do not come come cheap.

i agree its not quite nearly stock with the aem.. but that just shows how much of a bottle neck the stock ecu is on those... i notice allot of people picking up computers as one of their first mods..

expensive, yes, but think of what it is aside from the price....

boost controller, exhuast, tuning.......can an STI do that? Or any other car below $40k?

besides, Tym is sponsered by HKS so he gets the exhuast for free. If only all of us could enjoy that luxary.....

full exhaust
**standalone**
and a $1500 clutch

a dsm wtih
an intake, exhaust and MBC is considered lightly modded.

near stock to me is a drop in ,mbc and maybe a catback.

when you put an entirerly different computer in a car, honestly, it is no longer in the "near stock" catagory.

either way, that is a nice time. and i'm sure the 60 foot was killer.

To me that is nearly stock. Stock Bottom end, stock head, stock everything but a computer change, and some more flow with boost? Stock tires, stock wheels, full wieght, that is pretty much stock to me. nice time, cool mph, what was the boost on though? 25 ish?

So what if the computer was changed. Stock turbo, injectors, fuel pump, etc. It would be less impressive to me if it have a reflashed ECU or SAFC and a larger turbo, injectors, etc.

After allowing the engine to breath the biggest asset is the AEM P&P. Most peoples' problem with that is:
A. They can't afford it.
B. They don't know how to use it.
C. If "B." applies it cost alot more to get it right.

IMO: lack of funds and/or knowlege shouldn't be a deciding factor with the number of major components left unchanged ;)

Impressive. A buddy here runs 12.4-12.5's @ 110-112mph. Cams, AEM EMS with rough tune, filter, ACT clutch and full exhaust. Stock boost believe it or not.

The ET's suck since he babies his launches. It's his DD and he didn't enjoy swapping in the clutch. :p

The stock turbo is a large version of the 16g, the fueling obviously can handle whatever the turbo asks, the ecu will now control timing, fueling, stutterbox, etc. The stock longblock has been proven to over 500whp, is it any surprise that someone could have pulled this off?

Nothing against the run, its a great time for so few mods, just it doesnt seem to me to be of any surprise. Those cars are given quite a few beefy parts right out of the box. Hence alot of their parts are "upgrades" for us. I mean come on, 19psi right from the factory :).

we each have our definitions it seems.

What can a '03 Cobra do with a pulley upgrade, K&N, X-pipe and catback?
