ok........ lets repeat....
i ran at the track on saturday and i ran a 15.1 best time, what am i doing wrong. i have a ACT 2600, K&N filtercharger, HKS HYPER, boost guage. what am i doing wrong i launched at 4500-5000 rpm. the boost guage reads about 11-12 lb boost. this was also my first real run w/ a five speed

heres my time slip

r/t....808
60'....2.217
330....6.291
1/8....9.714
mph....72.36
1000...12.623
1/4....15.116
mph....89.72

if ne one can help PLEASE let me know.
also would a boost controler help my times at all????

well, your mph is very low

stock they get around 93-94mph...

with the upgrades you have; you should at least have 94mph

what you need to do is test your car and see how long it
takes to build boost...
my car has problems with leaking air in the manifold and
it then becomes impossible for me to build more than around 12psi of boost...

stock a 1G GSX runs about 14.8 @ 93mph
stock a 2G GSX runs about 14.9 @ 93mph

just due to a slight weight difference i think...

but 15.1 @ 89mph when you have a couple upgrades means there's something wrong...

check for exhaust leaks before and after the turbo...

yeah that too... AWD DSMs pull sub-2.0s 60' off the showroom floor...

Your car is fairly stock except for the air filter and the exhaust? Is that what the hks hyper is?
You are also running stock boost so i wouldnt expect anything better than mid 14's.
Also your 60' foot time is really low which could mean your 1-2 shift needs some work. Just keep practicing, it'll come :)

a boost controller will add a decent aount of power to your car. they are nice because they are easy to install and they are cheap. i got mine for $40. it makes my car run much faster. just make sure you have an accurate after-market boost gauge. don't set the boost gauge too high. 15psi is a good level. good luck.

what does the 60' foot time have to do with the 1-2 shift? :) He should be shifting after the 60' mark.

BarelyLegalGSX: You launch is pretty bad, you should be able to pull at least 1.9s and 2.0s. It might be a sign of your clutch slipping. Your MPH is also quite low for your mods, and your MPH isn't affected enormously by a bad launch. I would check for boost leaks, check engine compression, etc. Your clutch shouldn't be slipping with a fairly new 2600 though.

I have a 97 talon tsi fwd with 3"dp no cat, power extreme exhaust, intake and went 14.8 at 99 my first time at the track. Launching a fwd is very tough and I still had 60' equal to yours. Sounds like that is the problem. With my bov, fuel pump, more boost and practice, I ran a 14.2 at 102 in 45 degs! Hoping to get 13s with t-25! Ever been done?

My friend has a 95 Talon TSi FWD with 2.5" tp/ catback exhaust (weaponR muffler, k&n, half uic pipe and 1G BOV running stock boost on his t-25 and ran a 14.0 at 100.x mph (not exactly sure on the mph), I would say with good driving, it's VERY easily obtainable. check out http://www.customizing2extremes.com and go to "Steve Christ" for a complete list from his car.

When I ran my 95 gst all stock I hit a 15 flat. My friend also drove his 95 fwd tsi and hit a 14.8 and he is really good at driving. I think it is all in the driving when running almost stock. One of my other friend is also driving a 92 awd and when we raced he kept on bogging out at the line when he launched at 4000 to 5000. When he went up again he launched at redlines and spun all four and didn't bog. I thought he was going to break and axle. During that run he ran a 14.7 all stock. Get a boost controller and an adjustable fuel regulator from extrememotorsports for the best results with the stock injectors and turbo.

Hi guys, just to add a little off topic tidbits. My stock 95 Mustang GT ran a 15.2 at 92 mph. So if you see at stock 95GT and you have a few mods. YOU WILL WIN.

sooo......

so its my launch??? its probally just me having a poor reaction, and fear or breakin my tranny at launch. oh well. thanks 4 the help i will just try 2 work on it mroe. by the way dude witht the frind with the 2g FWD and ran a ok time... where are you from and where is he from. i saw a guy at the track on sat with a 2g fwd orange w. just an injen intake soo i dont know; oh wel thanks again

60ft times and 1-2 shift

Problem with his run is most likely 60ft and 1-2 shift.

2.2 is TERRIBLE for an AWD 60. However, newcomers to AWD need practice... I think my first launch was 2.1 or so.

For some reason, ET seams to drop at an unproportional rate when compared to 60s. When I gain .1s in the 60 I usualy get .1-.3 tenths faster in the 1/4. So if this guy drops his 60's to 1.8s that's .4sec.. =14.7 proportionally, and I'd bet you'd run closer to a 14.5.

As for the 1-2 shift. I can't be certain (no way to tell when you've past 60ft and still keep an eye on the track in front and your gauges) but my 1st gear lasts maybe a second and a half tops w/slight wheelspin at launch (AWD.. spools turbo). My best 60 is 1.8 which is <1.5 so I would have to guess 1-2 shift is a major factor? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Your launch cool use some work, but your reaction time has no effect at all on your ET. Just be a bit more aggressive. :)
