I have a 98 eclipse spyder GST that I just rebuilt. Bought it to fix and sell.

$5,500 OBO!!! OBO!

Car currently has 2500 miles on the new bottom end. Just made a trip to and from Pennsylvania with no issues and got 26MPG!

155xxx miles on the car. This will go up, I enjoy driving it around.

Car passes NC state inspection.

The car is beautiful when cleaned up.

What was done:
6bolt bottom end, topline pistons/rings
Balance shafts removed
New timing components
Spec lightweight Flywheel
Felpro composite gasket
7bolt head
stainless steel valves,
New Valve stem seals,
All new seals/gaskets on the motor
Stock clutch
Stock transmissions, Still very smooth.
Black top cas.
New master cylinder
New Slave cylinder
Everything else is bone stock.
TOP motors do work!! I replaced the break pins to see if it worked and they did great 30-40 times up and down until they popped the pins again. (see bad below)

Interior is 8/10. Drivers seat has wear near the door.
Body is 8/10 NO RUST! I found only a few specs from road chips.
Font bumper is ruff on the bottom

Top is OK condition but will need replaced or repaired. It has one repair done that does not leak and there are a few small holes that let in some water. It does not leak around any seals.

BAD:
The top has issues stated above.

Front bumper is ruff on the bottom. See pictures.

Needs the two brackets replaced that connect to the floating rib in the top. I'll probably end up replacing them soon.

Throw out bearing was reused and makes a slight chirp. ( It will probably bug me and I'll replace it before its sold anyway)

Right rear tire shows more wear than the others due to the previous owner not caring if the tires had air in them or not.

Any other questions let me know! I will get more pictures up soon!.

My g/f saw this car at the shootout and begged me to buy it for her. It is the 2g color combo that she really likes sice they don't come in pink. I get a nice size check in about a month that I promised to use part of to buy her a car. Maybe if you still have it and she hasn't changed her mind AGAIN I'll fly out and buy it for her.

Are you aware that an ebay seller has inexpensive retrofit parts (a set for both sides is currently $75) that fix the "floating rib" problem? (the piss-poor OEM Mitsubishi design uses elastic straps) It's the first thing that I fixed on my Spyder when I bought it in '07. You get new brackets with attached wire cable instead of elastic.

Search for "MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE CONVERTIBLE TOP REPAIR KIT 1996-99".

I am NOT affiliated in ANY way w/ this seller, just a happy customer.

Note that there is ANOTHER failure mode for these cloth tops (other than the lift motor shear pin and the floating rib stabilizer). There is a cast aluminum "helper bar" that acts to form a parallelogram linkage in the top mechanism. The top will power retract without it (helped by gravity), but will not power back up. I just replaced the RH top link on my Spyder. The OEM parts originally cost over $320 APIECE and are scarcer than hen's teeth to find now that they are out of production. Had to pay $140 for a USED part (RH side is harder to locate). The same seller is selling the LH part for about $113 right now on ebay.

Thank you for the information. I knew about the new arms I am just holding out on spending more money on this car.

I'd love to buy a new top for it but I would rather spend money on the drag car.

I also buffed this bad boy out tonight. Sure does look pretty and would look amazing in someone else's driveway! I'll have pictures once the sun comes up and I can get out the good camera.

Damn I just recently got my wife on board with the idea of my getting a Spyder. If we weren't in the middle of buying a house (close next Wednesday) I'd def take this off your hands.

GLWTS either way! Someone needs to take this and keep it as clean is you made it.

Just did rear brakes and ceramic front pads. Also a fresh oil change. The car was suppose to sell on sunday but the person backed out...........

Make a decent offer and it's gone.

Still sitting at $4,000 OBO

I stopped the trade. Had the "MINT" shell with parts looked at and it was all junk.

Car has 165117 Miles on it right now. I continue to drive this thing on long trips and still have yet to run into any issues. Thing fires up and drives anytime and goes any distance.

Only issue I would fix is the top, which could use a new one but is bearable.
