2.37 liter stroker kit

Okay, I have a 2G car. I have about 35000 miles, and drive the car extremely hard. I dont want to hit crankwalk. My question is, if I get the stroker kit, that includes crankshaft, rods, pistons, will I still get crankwalk? Is the only option to replace the engine to a 1G engine block or can I just get the stroker kit?

Thanks,
Ray

stroker

I think the stroker kits are a custom build that people have just made themselves. I would just get a 6 bolt 1g motor or 7 bolt bolt and build a solid engine

stroker kits

Actually, Crower makes stroker kits - 2.4L I believe. http://www.crower.com

As well, there's a company called Fast Fourward (or something like that) that also has a 2.2 or 2.3L setup.

<internet racer>
All of 'em about $4,000 or thereabouts - totally pointless IMO, when you could spend that money on an engine rebuild, enormous FMIC, and one bad a** mofo of a turbo.

If you've got cash to burn, half an extra liter sure would be nice - just don't rev it too high the 4G63 is already oversquare, and I'm sure lengthening the stroke won't help things.

IIRC (and I'm getting *way* out of my actual knowledge here) - , the 4G63's "rod ratio" (or something like that) is quite favorable to begin with, which somewhat ameliorates the downsides to stroking. Don't quote me on that.
</internet racer>

Edit -

other company is "Fast Fourward Connection" http://www.ffwdconnection.com. be careful - I've seen some posts saying they'll f*ck you.

I heard that the stroker kits give you plenty of tourque to snap axles with no problem.

I stand corrected. I thought they were just custom kits that someonce pieced together like they do in the v8 world these days. I kinda see the benefits of the motor but as previsouly mentioned snapping ales sucks, plus the 4g63 in its 2.0L platform has been well proven in battle. You could spend the money on the stroker kit but personally I think its a waste, if it was awesome , they would be spread all over the place and just not reports of them here and there. You are probably just gonna make as much Hp off a very well tuned 6-7 bolt motor vs a "stroker" just my 2 cents.......have a nice one

Hey JakeL, Just curious as to where you saw these post about ffwd. I've been dealing with ffwd for a couple years now and never had a problem. But I would like to know about any...

There's one thread here on DSMTalk that I checked ( guy was complaining about all sorts of wierd stuff). Offhand I don't recall the others - perhaps I'm merely remembering more than actually exists.

Perhaps my initial language was a bit too strong. I certainly have no experience of my own to relate.

youll crankwalk anyway....

and FFWD doesdnt sell the kit or engine for 2gens anymore because if it...
Ive been down this raod before man....just do a 6-bolt swap if you can...with the magnus method its almost as simple as putting in another 2gen engine:)

i've dealt with them a few times, other than having to call in your orders, i've had no problems, wish i could submit a form on the web and also get a ups traking number so i'd know when its coming, and call the terminal to hold it for me(it is easier for the terminal to hold since they deliver at 10:30am to my house, i work till 1pm, and the terminal is right next door to where i work)

also on another note about stroking, are there other cranks that will fit the block? the reason for this thought is, if you use longer rods on a smaller crank(not length, but height wise) can't you turn the crank faster?

John Carpenter (R.I.P.) at the old Forced Performance and Dave Buschur are the main pioneers of DSM stroking, and both have offered stroker kits in the past.

I'd call Buschur Racing and talk to them about it. They'll be able to give you a lot better advice and more accurate answers than most people on this board.

I was just about to mention the JUN 2.2L Stroker kit, I've heard good things about this kit but I am pricing out bottom end engine modifications right now and I believe this kit was around $5,000 - 6,000 complete. Personally I would rather build a 2.0L and/or swap the block. Just too dang expensive for a very small gain.
