I have no idea if this is the right place to post this but, my friend is an LS1 expert(self proclaimed) anyways, he bought a 240SX that im painting and he's droping and LS1 in it, i've heard alot of poeple do this. I was wondering, could i put an LS1 in my eclipse???? I love my car, but have always wanted a V8. so it would be the best of both worlds, but would it even fit??? i know i would have to get the T-56 trans and make it RWD but anyways has anyone on here done this or know someone that has? i can imagine nothing sweeter than pulling up to a ricer or camaro/mustang and seeing their faces when they hear a 350 eclipse revvin up!! ricers would S**T their pants! anyways please help if u can! thanks!!

i think the engine would barely fit, would require custom rad and suport.....would be very sick though.....you could also try and hook a 03-04 cobra rear end just to make so the rear wouldn't have issues.......t-56 would be tops.....theat would be pretty nasty...

I must say in all of my years of a DSM owner and board enthusiast I have never ever heard anyone ask this question before. This is right up there with wanting to drop the twin turbo 3kgt motor into the car.

it'll fit, if it wasn't for an extra week of stuff over the summer my 355 from my s10 was almost in the talon

i know i could make my car faster than an LS1 but i want something that no-one else has and would make people think. and i've always wanted a camaro or mustang because thats what i grew up around and they are sweet!! but the thing is that, i dont want to get rid of my eclipse, i love it too much, so i figure...eh, why not have both? Will be my summer project for sure,....when i start i will let ya'll know how it goes. anyone with more input would be great, thanks.

At least one person has done it. Not sure why they put gay looking rims on it, but the rest isn't half bad.

There was another that was trying a front engine 350. Not sure if he ever got it running though. I could not find the pics of it.

It might be easier to fit if you ran a rear mounted radiator. Run a custom drive shaft to the stock rear end or just run a solid rear axle with a custom 4-link rear suspension. Very easy to let a project like this get too expensive to finish.

there is a 300zx running around here with a 354 motor in it fully built and turbo'd that shit is no fucking joke.
a 300zx is rwd, and a v-8 is a very wasy swap, now changing from a fwd/awd platform to a v-8 rwd is a little different, definetly can be done. If you have basically every metal fabricating tool on the market, and over 10 years of experience in the field. But if not than you are going to be paying some random shop (which is going to be hard to find someont to take this on) over 10 grand probably just for the conversion. It is stupid. That should be the end of that, if you want a car with a v-8 go buy a 2nd gen rx-7 and buy you a v-8 swap kit for a couple hundred bucks, build a hot small block and drop it in. If you are going to continue to drive a dsm keep the 2.0.
